Companion to Homeopathy: The Practitioner's Guide

Brilliant book with a beautiful and insightful description of the chronic miasms.
I bought this book primarily to learn more and have a more in depth discussion about the chronic miasms. The love that Griffith goes into the theory and energy of the miasms so that the reader can better grasp the consequences of their presence in the body. It provided me with a critical education of a gaping hole in my homeopathic understanding. Most books from the library or even here on Amazon are superficial about homeopathy altogether and don't reference the miasms, or if they do, only superficially. I am of the belief that the miasms are a critical element that is missing from most homeopathic treatment -- and, indeed, the well-being of our entire medical system. In the interests of full disclosure, I haven't read the other parts of the book. I wanted to know about the miasms. That said, I have little doubt that Griffith provides insights into other elements of classical homeopathy as well.Highly recommended

Worth Having
I enjoyed reading this book, and it is in many ways a textbook, so that says a lot for the author. It is a book I will go back and read again. There is a lot of information on nosodes, which aren't used too much in the US. The caution is, of course, only use a nosode if you can't find a matching remedy, and the symptoms do fit the nosode. Good information on maintaining causes and miasms. Because it is easy to read, you don't need an advanced level of homeopathic knowledge to get a clear understanding from this book.Get this one.

Great Resource
Very thought provoking. I am new to homeopathy so it is over my head. However, as I learn more about homeopathy I find myself referring to this book more and more. I think it will continue to be a go to resource. As an aside, it is very interesting to read.

Nice information about the miasms with "Blame the patient" attitude
This book has some nice information about the miasms, with cases. I also like that the author writes about "new" miasms, like leprosy. What I do not like:The author states at least two times that karma is a buddhist concept. Well, buddhism borrowed the concept of karma from hinduism. It is really strange that the author speaks about karma, but it seems that he does not know the basic history of this concept.Through the book several times it is stated that the ultimate responsibility for healing lies within the patient and healing only takes place if the internal conflicts are resolved consciously. Sorry, but I think this is new age type of bullsh**.This theory contradicts the phenomena, where very young children (even babies) or animals can heal from chronic disease with homeopathy. Did the 6 months old baby or the dog healed from cancer solve consciously their "emotional/karmic baggage"?I have seen many cases where patients did not get better despite of years of homeopathic treatment or worse, their health declined gradually. The homeopaths instead of referring them to a colleague, continued to treat them for years (or decades) and kept charging them. I think most of these times the homeopaths never saw the case in reality, they were just prescribing superficially. They did not want to admit that maybe the patient needed a different homeopath, because that would have hurt their ego.I have even know cases where the patient got much worse for several months due to the homeopathic treatment or because the narcissistic homeopath abused the patient emotionally.I have heard several times these homeopaths stating while teaching homeopathy students that if the patient does not get better in treatment it means that "the patient does not want to heal" or "it's karma". They never considered the possibility that maybe their prescriptions were not that good. Even if it was obvious from the presented case, that the teacher was missing important chronic aspects from the case, they never realized their mistake or openly blamed the patient during the case presentation. E.g. the patient had something peculiar in her physical appearance but during the 10 years (!) of treatment it never occured to the homeopath to consider this as a symptom (athough you can find that physical symptom in repertories). The common thing with these homeopaths is that they never admit making mistakes in their treatments, it is always the patient's fault if something goes wrong within the treatment.Unfortunately the statement that the ultimate responsability is always with the patient is the excuse of irresponsible and/or unskillful homeopaths to continue their unsucceful treatments and still get paid. Often it is a way to gaslight patients.I think that it is really sad that this is the norm in homeopathy nowadays. Correct me if I am wrong, but did ever Hahnemann blame the patient when the treatment was unsuccessful?I think since in homeopathic treatment there are two participants, the homeopath and the patient, this is a shared responsability. If you are interested in a more balanced view on this topic, please check out Luc de Schepper or André Saine.Sorry for my English, I am not a native speaker.

Homeopathy
Great delivery time! nice condition of book! Colin Griffith has a number of books on this Homeopathy, and as I crave to learn more on this subject, it led me to this book, which has been really edifying to me in the course of my self-guided search to understand this path of science and health.

Miasmatically outstanding!
This is compellingly written and full of insight. I don't know of any other book that details and explains miasms so thoroughly and in a way that leads the reader compellingly on the trail of development of human disease. It's easy to read and has lovely touches of humour to lighten the concepts of homeopathy that he sets out , devoid of pontification, this book is outstanding. I return to it time and time again for further learning and understanding. Thank you, Colin for your wonderful book.

Pobably best for someone with some exposure to homeopathy already
Pobably best for someone with some exposure to homeopathy already. But a great read for the person wanting to be inspired by it's power and effectiveness in treating the complex, chronic conditions pharma-medicine cannot cure.

Fantastic!
As a complete novice to homeopathy I was somewhat daunted by the size of this book when recommended by my own homeopath. What a compelling read! I couldn't put it down as it got more and more interesting. Each section is clearly and expressively written and illustrated with fascinating case studies from the author's extensive career. I learnt more than I ever anticipated about homeopathy and the different 'miasms' but also the effects of antibiotics, diet, the contraceptive pill and allopathic medicine.A fantastic book for those with a passing (or even more than a passing) interest in homeopathy and general health.
