Great gentle cleaner
This gentle cleaner works great on upholstery. I’ve also used it with a soft brush to clean the lichen and organic debris off of headstones at the cemetery. Another place I’ve used it is to clean my window screens with a soft brush. In each case I just put about a 1/4 cup into a large pail of warm water, swirled it around with my hand to dissolve and it was ready to use. I simply rinsed with warm water when done. This is such a great product I can’t wait to try it on other things….sweaters?

Great product
I bought this product, as a recommendation from a friend, to wash a quilt I made for my mother-in-law. The quilt had gotten really dingy looking after many years of use. After a nice soak in the tub with a little of the soap in it, the quilt's color looked so much brighter without any color bleeding (I used 2 color catchers just in case). I then used it on my hand knit items (socks, sweater), and they came out soft and bright. There were no soapy residues to dull the colors or add weird odors. I'm very happy with this product.

Super gentle; great for initial cloth diaper washing.
This stuff is super gentle, and you can use it on pretty much everything. Really, just about everything. Pre-1930s quilts, cloth diapers when they’re new and you’re trying to strip off the natural plant oils (I’ve used this on 100% cotton cloth diapers and 70% bamboo/30% cotton blend diapers and it works great on both), you can use it to wash sheep, yes, seriously, sheep, horses, cows; it’s an ingredient that’s already in your laundry detergent and likely your own shampoo or body wash, just more concentrated and in a huge jar. I’m a fan of it for my kitchen towels and cleaning rags in the laundry and other greasy/fatty messes that occur on fabric. It’s really great for spot treating laundry. Be careful with the laundry though, it only takes a little bit and it does foam a lot and should be used with a surfactant such as regular old laundry soap at the same time for best cleaning results if you’re using it in the laundry with non-delicate modern fabrics, it’s especially good on natural fibers. Basically, my go-to for cleaning up greasy/fatty messes; from lanolin off a sheep to 36% milk fat cream off your shirt; I love this stuff.

Using for quilts
Using today to wash some winter themed quilts. It really suds by just using one tablespoon. I also use color catches when washing quilts. This will last me a very long time. Also will use for normal laundry sometimes and for some linens, etc that I don't want to use regular laundry soap for. Not sure why on directions on container Orvus recommends using four tablespoons when all the quilt blogs and forums I read before purchasing recommends only using 1 tablespoon, that's all it takes. I also did not use any other detergent, just the Orvus. The only down fall was that when I received it, it had leaked even though it was wrapped in plastic. The lid was not really screwed on all that tight. Took several times to get the outside of container cleaned of the soap using a wet rag and paper towels. Also note that it is more like a soft liquid when warm and more of a solid when cool when storing, so that can happen when shipping.
