Additional help for a beginner building a radio astronomy kit
While the book provides an overview of the history of radio astronomy as well as a brief introduction to RF and basic electronics assembly, the book does not actually include the directions for building projects, as might be suggested by its cover description. Rather, the majority of this book is additional supplementary guidance for someone planning on building the SuperSID antenna, INSPIRE or Radio Jove kits. For example, as the Radio Jove kit itself has a 50 page PDF with schematics and step by step assembly; this book does not duplicate those instructions but assumes the reader will have been following that PDF. As a result, this book covers the construction of a receiver in just 3 pages, with suggestions such as which diodes in the kit's own instructions might be mislabeled. The final chapter, 15 pages long, describes the fourth project of radio detection of meteors, which is using a HT scanner with an antenna and audio software.

In my opinion, many constructed of electronic coupling (receiver) should have been recognized. This book is not creative enough.

Not really radio astronomy
I too was a bit disappointed with this book. It doesn't really explain radio astronomy at all and it's quite expensive at £20. If you want to get some (free) introduction, go to[...] and download the pdf, great place to start.

Amateurish
I hate to do this, but this book is badly written, though informative if you can get through the folksy style.
