Tamaki Haiga Mai, with Rice Germ 15lbs

Worthy of the price
I would take a cup of rice to a mason jar with water. The rice would get sprouted in three days. That's when I cook the rice. Better taste and more nutritious than non-germ rice.

Best whole grain rice
I was so happy to see this rice offered on Amazon, it’s my favorite. I usually drive about an hour and a half to Mitsuwa Market, but my schedule does not allow me to go for another 2 weeks and I have to have my rice :) The price is comparable to Mitsuwa, and it’s exactly the same, three 5lb bags of rice Also, the expiration date is on the bag. (mine was for 3/2024). This whole grain rice is delicious and cooks perfect in a rice cooker or on the stove. Thank you!!

My favorite rice
After shopping in downtown Los Angeles for Japanese rice and buying three different types of rice, this is my favorite. Great flavor, chew and smell. Outstanding.

Great rice, yes expensive but worth every cent
This is not cheap rice. My family loves it and it never goes to waste. That is why I keep coming back to order more as I cannot find it in local stores. It has a great flavor a cross between white and brown rice is the only way to describe it. I purchased this rice after reading in a health magazine about the benefits of this rice, my house was a white rice junky house. I am happy I made the switch. I cook it in my rice cooker with no issues.

I enjoy Tamaki Haiga Mai whenever I eat.
Tamaki Haiga Mai is healthier than regular rice. It is good for any way you eat. I make rice ball with rice for my snack and main meal.

Okay quality.
This Tamaki rice comes in a brown paper bag with three separate small bags inside. I checked the weight of each bag and each bag is about 5lb. So weight wise, it is accurate. There is no damage on the package upon arrival, Amazon did a good job on shipping and delivery. The rice doesn't have pure white color, instead, slightly brown. I personally feel the color is between white rice and brown rice. I cooked the rice in a normal pot, adding plenty water, a couple drops of oil and a pinch of salt. The cooking time seems similar to other rice. Both my husband and I like the type of rice that has good texture. So when I cook this rice, I make sure all the water is absorbed and the cooked rice overall is dry enough, you can check my last photo to see the cooked rice.We tried this rice. Since we travel to Japan a lot and over the years, we had the chance to try some high quality rice, this rice's quality is considered as Okay only to us. It doesn't have a good enough texture to us. Each rice seems soft and doesn't hold shape well, especially when I scoop the rice out from the pot. However, compared to those cheap ones in our local grocery store, this rice is definitely way better. I think when we finish this 15lb bag, I am gonna buy some other rice on Amazon.

The One Rice to Rule Them All
This rice is ridiculously expensive... but it is just so damn good that I can't stop buying it. Absolutely the best texture, aroma, and flavor of any rice I've ever had. Even as compared to slightly more expensive (truly ridiculous) highly polished rices imported from Japan, this one wins in my house, hands down. If you are a fan of short-grain Asian rices, this is it. Perfection.Note: I cook it in a Zojirushi NS-ZAC18 on the "harder" setting. Sometimes I drop a few slices of kombu in for a bit of umami, but that's really not necessary.Note 2: There is perhaps no better simple late night snack than this rice, mixed hot with a raw egg, and then sprinkled with some bonito/sesame furikake.
