Great all-around cleaner
I've used this product for a few years and been happy with it. I ran across it here on Amazon when I bought some patches of the same brand (which are excellent). This does a good job clearing powder fouling and copper residue. It does have a strong ammonia odor, so use it in a well ventilated area. For removing copper, run a wet patch through the bore and let it soak for a bit before brushing or pushing a dry patch. You don't want to let it dry in the bore, so keep that in mind. It will remove copper and you'll see it as the patches turn blue when it reacts with copper. It may take a few times until the patches.

It's 3.75 ounces (small)
Great stuff hard to find sometimes. Removes a copper fowling very well, I'd recommend for a good thorough deep cleaning. I don't always use it when I clean my rifles because it works too well for target shooting, but I do use it when I'm putting something away in long term storage. Also it does usually come in a glass bottle, I've never gotten it in a plastic bottle before. It will be interesting to see of it keeps well over time and not eat thru the plastic.

You wont find this in Big box stores. A better bore cleaner
Recommended for barrel break-in procedures. I was told that the benchrest guys love this stuff. I believe that it has some ammonia (you may want to verify) and may hit copper, so use it judiciously. You will find that patches return black when other commonly used agents have patches that come back looking cleaner.

Removes copper well. Not as effective on lead or powder fouling. Hoppes No 9 is more effective on powder fouling. Regarding lead, I have not found an effective solvent. Removing lead takes special techniques. Note: this solvent will quickly "eat" your bronze brushes, reducing the diameter of the bristles to the point where the brush no longer contacts the grooves. Therefore, you will have to use a plastic brush with this solvent, preferable one with aluminum or steel wire core (i.e., not a bronze or copper wire core). I wet the bore immediately after firing at the range. By the time I get home to clean the bore, the copper fouling removal process has already begun so I save time at the cleaning bench.

GREAT BORE CLEANER FOR THOSE HEAVY DUTY CLEANING JOBS
This is a great stuff for cleaning the contamination from the bore and the chamber of fire arms. It removes copper fouling, lead fouling and powder residue easily and efficiently. My usual procedure is to almost saturate a patch and run it through the bore for one pass then I fold the patch the other way and run it through the bore a second time. If I have fired a lot of rounds through the weapon (200 rounds or more) then I will dip a nylon bore brush in the Bore Shine and scrub the bore with it half a dozen times or so. After that I will run clean patches through the bore until all traces of fouling are removed. All of this is still easier and quicker than CLP or Hoppee's Number 9.The only thing one needs to be careful about is to use this stuff only in a well ventilated area. Bore Shine does produce fumes and those fumes can make you woozy if you don't have good ventilation in the area where you clean your fire arms.

never knew it could be so easy
I bought this after it was recommended by the specialty barrel maker and by the shop that built my target rifle. It doesn't have any ammonia and won't etch the bore. I didn't know it could be so easy to get my barrel clean, not just sort of clean but have the patch come out as clean as it went in. WOW In most cases I only use 5 or 6 patches and then it is really clean. Not just sort of clean but really clean. I don't have to let it set with a soaked barrel and let it work because it works almost instantly. The really neat thing is that I have no copper fouling. And now I am satisfied my barrel is clean. Great Stuff....And if your concerned about getting your barrel back to bare metal, instead of having some carbon covering, because some carbon covering is actually good for accuracy, don't worry that is also a concern of Butch's and is also addressed by the specialty barrel maker and they said just watch your patches for no copper then stop. My barrel is made by Lija and they have a web site that addressed barrel cleaning. Just follow the directions and you won't be disappointed.

Best Solvent Around
Switched from Hoppe's years ago. This stuff cuts through anything. Very strong formula. I use it on all my firearms. Try a bottle.

Good stuff in combo with other products
Good stuff for cleaning and preserving barrels. I use it to wet the barrel before I use a foam cleaner and for getting bolts/actions/magazines clean. After the foam has done its work I use bore shine to get the foam residue out and finally use bore shine and Kroil on patches till they come out clean. I never need to use a brush.
