Where Do I Start?!
To every book I have ever read, I dare admit to you that this series blows you out of the water , shy only of a few. Nevernight will linger still beneath my fantasy loving bones forevermore. And Mia…. A character of her likeness can surely never be written again. It was dark and insidious and entirely wonderful. Amongst these pages we have gruff and stout characters born of the author himself, and I am in awe."We are not made more by the stories we read, but by the stories we share. And in this, in her, I think we’ve shared more than most. I shall miss it when it’s gone. But to live in the hearts of those we leave behind is to never die. And to burn in the memories of our friends is to never say goodbye. So let me say this instead. Goodnight, gentlefriend. Goodnight. Never flinch. Never fear. And never, ever forget."This last book completely wrecked me. Not in a way that left me drowning in a pool of sobs, but in a way that left me slack jawed and floored, totally bereft of what is gone now, that I have devoured every word.Where will I go now without one of my favorite assassins and her dark shadows? Where will I go without the blinding desire for revenge, if only because of a love so vast it shades out the multitudes? Where will I go now?!

An incredible conclusion to an all-consuming trilogy!
DARKDAWN, is the third book--and conclusion--to The Nevernight Chronicle, by author Jay Kristoff. I devoured the first two novels without hesitation, and this one was no different in that regard.Well, almost. . .I admit that while I couldn't wait to jump back into Mia Corvere's tale, a part of me was already lamenting the fact that this was the last book of her story."When all is blood, blood is all."The end of Book 2 left us with some incredible revelations, and brought back some earlier characters, as well as some dynamic new ones. One such being Mia's eight-year old brother, Jonnen.". . . she'd have admired the boy's creativity if he wasn't turning out to be such a troublesome little prick."It was wonderful to revisit Kristoff's writing style! His blend of comedic dark humor in the most serious of situations is something I never tire of. His characters feel authentic because they are flawed, as all humans are. you can't go into these books expecting everything to be "happily ever after", for that's simply not reality.". . . 'deserve' has nothing to do with this life. Blessings and curses fall on the wicked and the just alike . . ."Kristoff was able to create this world and make it "real" to the reader because--even with the supernatural, creatures, and magic--his characters had traits that we could relate to: Love, greed, ambition, and the desire to avenge wrongs perpetrated on themselves and those they cared about."Sometimes the past just won't die. Sometimes you have to kill it."Mia's character goes through the largest emotional transformation here. Like her or hate her, I think most would agree that from the direction the stories were taking, nothing short of a complete reevaluation of her values and mission would have felt "right".". . . She'd always been better at cutting things apart than putting them back together."Even the opposing characters are believable in the context of what they do. After all, does a predator see itself as evil, or simply do what comes natural to it?". . . To claim true power . . . All you need is the will to do what others will not."Overall, this novel captured nearly every emotion possible, and had me feeling all over the board as far as the events unfolding went.Did I like all of the decisions/scenes Kristoff gave us?Of course not! Was I emotionally destroyed at times? YES! Some were downright infuriating to me with how I had come to care about this fictional world and its people. However, that's the beauty of being a reader. We may not like everything we read, but you have to be able to appreciate an author that can affect your reactions and manipulate emotions the way this one does.". . . the best way to learn to win is by losing."Kristoff did all of that and more. I can't wait to start the next book by him--I have a couple on hand that I purchased already."I am the war you can not win."Highly recommended, to follow after NEVERNIGHT and GODSGRAVE.

So good and a great way to end this series!
The final installment of the Nevernight Chronicles....and I loved it.The overall storytelling through this trilogy has been phenomenal and it just continued through this one. Plot twists galore and yes, Kristoff still enjoys hurting your feelings, so don't assume because it's the last one, he will be kind. Because he's not.I will say, if you want some preparation, this one is paced *slightly* slower than the first two, which is something that threw both me and my husband off as we buddy-read this. It doesn't negatively impact anything other than the expectation of chaos, considering how the first two books were both paced, and also how they ended. I'll also add....Mia's character grows SO much and in a different way through this book, it had me emotional once or twice.Overall loved this series, and really enjoy his writing!

Soul crushing and perfect...
“‘I am a daughter of the dark between the stars,’ she replied. ‘I am the thought that wakes the bastards of this world sweating in the nevernight. I am the vengeance of every orphaned daughter, every murdered mother, every bastard son.’ Mia leaned forward and looked the man in the eye. ‘I am the war you cannot win.’”Damn…I don’t even know what to say or do. Darkdawn wrecked me. Repeatedly. Jay Kristoff is an evil twisted human being, but damned if I can’t quit him. This book was everything it should have been. All that it needed to be. I would not have chosen the way things went, but every word, every scene was right. It was seriously perfect. I am crushed for forever. I give this book all my stars and hearts. Might as well since I am now dead anyway. Also this is probably my new favorite quote/scene of all time:“Fear was Can’t.Fear was Won’t.But fear wasn’t ever a choice. To never fear was to never hope. Never love. Never live. To never fear the Dark was to never smile as the dawn kissed your face. To never fear solitude was to never know the joy of a beauty in your arms.Part of having is the fear of losing.Part of creating is the fear of it breaking.Part of the beginning is the fear of your ending.Fear is never a choice.Never a choice. But letting it rule you is.”

I really love this series and love it when you can't choose one book over the other, they flow so seamlessly into each, it's one wonderful adventure. A great storyteller, telling a story with such great heart and humour that I couldn't out it down. Jay Kristoff is up there with the likes of Gaiman, T. Kingfisher, Schwab, Pullman and a host of other greats ( I even enjoyed the footnotes). This book is well worth your time and money, you won't be disappointed.

Great finish to a great series. ...
This series seems to be a love or hate thing with people. It is unique in writing style, etc. but as an unpublished author I would often find myself thinking 'I wish could write like that!'All I can say is give it a chance. ...

Maravilloso libro
