Good for the price
This is a very good value lamp, so my rating factors that in. Also on the plus side, it looks good with its brass fitting, glass bowl and 'squirrel cage' old fashioned bulb.On the negative side, the bulb produces radio interference so if you listen to FM radio you'll need to turn the light off! Radio 2 seems especially bad (and I don't just mean the quality of the DJs) but I have a feeling that this is a problem with squirrel cage vintage style bulbs in general. Secondly the glass bowl arrived dirty on the inside, so it needs a very very careful washing and drying. Thirdly the instructions were incomplete, as if there was a page missing so it didn't explain how to assemble the glass bowl and the brass bits, however I just went back to the photo on Amazon and that was enough to assemble it. Fourth, it came with 3 conical shaped things which I can only assume (give then number) these were electrical connectors to connect the lamp wires to the ceiling wires, however they didn't look safe to me and there were no clues how to use them so I used the connector block from the previous lamp's ceiling rose, luckily it just about fitted, and discarded the 3 cone whatsits.So although it's not without faults, they are fairly minor given the low price - even some fairly plain table lamps are £190 at John Lewis so this is a bargain.

99 it was very good value, especially as the bulb was included
I bought this as a 'deal of the day' and at that price £29.99 it was very good value, especially as the bulb was included. I probably wouldn't have bought it at a higher price. It looks stunning. The glass is clear so you can see the bulb which is the whole point of having a vintage bulb.I read in another review that it's not a very bright light. It's 40watts. It's not meant to be a work light!
