Product description lies
Having decided to go the route of using the battery grip and high-capacity batteries for my new camera, I was kinda dismayed to see how expensive are the chargers for the EN-EL18 series batteries. I took a chance on this item. Sometimes, third-party equipment isn't up to scratch, even when it's brand new. The product description for this charger did indeed say "new", so I thought I was minimising my risk of buying a lemon.However, this charger isn't new. First, the packaging in which it arrived (not the outer Amazon box, but the product packaging) was beaten up, taped together, and unsealed. Second, the charger has clips to hold the battery in place while charging. But the manual doesn't mention these clips. If you don't know about them, you can easily snap them off when removing the battery from the charger. This is a two-port charger. I used only one port for the single charge-cycle that I've carried out so far. The other port - which I have never used - has those two clips broken off. The charger has been used before, by someone who didn't know about those clips.
