A Smile on My Soul
This is one of the best books I have read recently. I learned so much more about Cary Grant than I had expected. He delivered stellar performances over four decades. This book explores the ways in which he grew as an actor and as a human being. It left me with a joyous feeling about the star and the author who organized "Evenings with Cary Grant" into a splendid portrait of the man. She used his answers to audience questions to craft a riveting portrait of Archie Leach. Cary found happiness after one of the greatest careers on the silver screen and much soul searching to find his inner self. While he crafted an enduring screen persona, he knew how to stretch it to fit the wide range of roles he undertook. The apparent ease of his performances came from his close attention to the details and demands of his roles, and to the care he took with his colleagues. This book will make you want to re-watch his many fine films! It left a big smile on my soul! My favorite films that illustrate Grant's broad acting abilities are Suspicion, Notorious, Monkey Business, North by Northwest and Charade.

This is THE Book To Read for Cary Grant Fans
Many books have been written about Cary Grant that shed him in a less than favorable light, have incorrect facts, and invade his privacy. Sadly, many of the people who befriended or knew Grant intimately scooped to an a journalistic low in their gossipy "tell all" books. This book, thankfully, isn't one of them. This book, along with Grant's daughter's book, "Good Stuff" is an endearing tribute to one of Hollywood's greatest, most loved actors from the Golden Era. "Evenings With Cary Grant" is filled with tons of wonderful quotes and stories from Grant himself and the people who worked with him and knew him best. Many quotes and stories have been printed before and since but were/have been misquoted and taken completely out of context. In this book, the author, who had the privilege of working with Grant in his last years, presents Grant in an objective light. The book, well-written, was given a stamp of approval by Grant's daughter and last wife, Barbara.

A great read for Cary Grant fans
This book is not a true biography, but it is full of wonderful anecdotes from his many friends and "in his own words" stories by Cary himself. Cary Grant is one of my all-time favorite actors and this book confirms that he was as funny, smart, suave and debonair in real life as he was in his films. It was such a delight to read about his many friendships over the years and how so many (famous and not so famous) people adored him and became lifelong friends. There were many laugh-out-loud moments - he had a quick and saucy wit. I learned a little more about his early life and a bit more about his marriages (although they were glossed over very quickly). But in the end, this book satisfied on so many levels. A great read.

A Must Read for all Cary Grant Fans
If you love Cary Grant, you will love this fantastic book written by Nancy Nelson. What makes Nelson's book special is that because it is supported by Grant's daughter Jennifer and wife Barbara, the reader can feel confident that the facts and descriptions reported are true to Cary Grant's character. The text is an enjoyable blend of Nancy Nelson's writing as well as Cary Grant's own words and the words of those who were his close friends. I was in love with Cary Grant before reading this book, simply because I adore him in his movies. After finishing it, I adored Cary Grant as not only an incredible actor, but as an endearing and generous friend, father & husband. The mark that Cary Grant has left on us is priceless and his films continue to bring joy to so many generations after him. His charm is timeless. Nancy Nelson allows us to get as close to knowing Grant as we possibly can. I highly recommend this book.

Very good insight into a icon!
For those of you who liked Cary Grant movies, I found this a most interesting book about the movie star who rose up from tumultuous roots to become one of the most famous movie stars of all time. He was a humble man because of his origins and a very deep thinker. Unlike so many people who attain fame, he was kind to people of all walks of life, took the time to find out what made them tick and in many cases, offered his counsel and other gifts to help them succeed in life. He never forgot where he came from.

Cary Grant - finally the real stories!!
My hobby is reading biographies and autobiographies. This is by far the BEST I've ever read. Every page is interesting and that is what makes it special. Too often this type of book is regurgitated and often inaccurate - not this one!! A delight. Many thanksE Sanderson
