Worth ever penny - saved me from having to install a second stage filter for my well water.
At the time of purchase, this product had no reviews so I took a leap of faith, and I am very happy I did. We have a single stage filter for our well, which for the most part has historically been fine. It removed sediment and that was enough to make for good water. However lately the water has had more of a sulfur smell, especially after a good rain. Rather than go through the headache of installing a second stage carbon filter, I read somewhere about mixed media filters, with pleated outside for sediment and carbon inside. I searched for a long time, and honestly, this was the only mixed media filter I could find that was the size and type for what I needed.I installed the filter and ran the water a while, and wow - what a difference. There is absolutely no smell coming from the faucet. This is the cleanest our water has ever smelled. Yes, this is more expensive than a normal pleated sediment filter - but it is essentially two filters in one, and saves me the cost of having a second stage installed.Time will tell how long this filter will last us. It says 80000 gallons, which is 50k more than the typical 30000 for a sediment filter. I'm hoping I can leave this for longer than my old filters to compensate for the investment.

Filtered water
Honestly, I was expecting a superior filter, but it seems to be getting full already, faster than the Whirlpool model that was $20 cheaper. I paid the extra $20 because I thought it would last longer than the Whirlpool model (which lasted a solid 3 months.)Also, since using this filter, our toilet bowl now has grey sediment streaks.I haven't even had this filter in place for a month and the smell is coming back. I am switching back to the Whirlpool filter.Update: swapped out to a whirlpool carbon filter and all issues resolved. Save $20 and buy the whirlpool.

I had a bad sulfur issue
I had a bad sulfur issue. The filter did filter as it said. But it stated that it should last 6 months and only lasted 4-5 weeks when smell came back. I bought another carbon filter for half the price that worked for 4 weeks. So it works but not as long as stated.

No more chlorine!
I have had this filter for about 8 months now and it is awesome! Absolutely no chlorine smell or taste anymore. I have a 5 micron sediment filter before it and between the 2 filters my water quality is way better than before and I have county well water. My skin use to get dried out when I took showers. I got red welts on my skin because the chlorine was so high. That is all gone. I will buy these filters until they do not make them anymore."Update"Have about 40,000 gallons through it now and still going strong. You can see the difference 3 months makes in the 2 pictures below.Update as of 1-10-2024Thr last one of these filters I bought has only lasted 1/4 of the volume of water the ones before did. I suspected there was a change as the filter was much lighter than the previous ones. I used it, and as I suspected they did change these filters. There is much less media in the carbon block, pleats on the outer layer are fewer and much deeper hiding the lesser material behind. So I really liked these in the beginning but now they are the same price for a quarter of the performance. I am unfortunately moving on to a different brand. Picture of the cut open filters is the cheapened up filter and last one of these I'll buy. Unless they tell me they are reverting back to the original design.

My wife loves it. You can't do any better than that.
My wife loves it. I never could tell the difference myself, but my wife hated the sulfur smell and taste of the well water. We finally broke down and got a whole house water softener, and then we got this activated charcoal whole-house water filter for our whole-house filter system. Like I said, I can't tell the difference, but my wife could instantly tell the difference. She says the water tastes great, now we can use the regular tap water for making coffee, instead of buying bottle water. Now we can use the ice maker in the refrigerator freezer instead of buying ice from the store. She says for a few days the ice was coming out cloudy, but now it's coming out clear, which she says is great. I don't know how long it's going to last, but I guess I will be getting another one of these when it goes bad. I was very careful to clean out the plastic holder beforehand to get all the old iron deposits and sediment out before installing this. I wanted to give it the best chance to work its magic.

Does the job pefectly as advertised
Does the job in an excellent manner. A bit pricey, but worth it. I cannot yet make a statement about longevity. I have a 5 micron pre-filter and only a slight chemical odor, so perhaps I can get more than the advertised 80,000 gallons. Without this filter my well water had a slight but objectionable odor and taste, and a fine discoloration of silt that built up in the white porcelain toilet bowl. Both problems are completely solved since installing this filter. I would expect that the length of time between filter changes will depend on the amount of sediment and chemical contamination of the source.

After three weeks water pressure dropped significantly, had to remove the filter. Water filter did remove chlorine but with dire consequences.

Purchased for use as my second in line whole house filter. Seems to be doing ok but not for sure if it's worth the money.
