How can fish oil possibly lower your creatine or your egfr? Does anyone have labs results to substantiate that this product worked for them? Thanks

Thank you for the question. First let me explain a little about fish oil or omega 3. So, you can understand the role it plays in supporting normal inflammation levels that in turn support normal kidney function.

Omega 3, is an essential fatty acid, that comes from fish oil can support normal kidney function only when two types of omega fatty acids called EPA and DHA reach certain levels.

If the EPA and DHA do reach a certain quantity the omega 3/fish oil product will be of little value.  I discuss further what those values should be.

There are the two main types of omega-3 fatty acids:

Long-chain omega-3 fatty acids are EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid). These are plentiful in fish and shellfish.

Short-chain omega-3 fatty acids are ALA (alpha-linolenic acid). These are found in plants, such as flaxseed. Though beneficial, ALA omega-3 fatty acids have less potent health benefits than EPA and DHA. You'd have to consume much more to get the same benefits as you do from fish oil.

As per WebMD and other nutritional journals:

“There are hundreds of studies demonstrate that omega-3s may provide some benefits to a wide range of diseases: cancer, asthma, depression, cardiovascular disease, ADHD, and autoimmune diseases, and kidney disease.”

“How could fatty acids be so beneficial for so many different conditions?”

"All these diseases have a common genesis in inflammation," says Joseph C. Maroon, MD, professor and vice chairman of the department of neurological surgery at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Co-author of Fish Oil: The Natural Anti-Inflammatory, Maroon says that in large enough amountsomega-3's reduce the inflammatory process that leads to many chronic conditions.”

Poor kidneys always have high amounts of inflammation.

What amount should the EPA and DHA be, so it supports normal kidney function?

When it comes to the EPA it should be at least 800-1000mg EPA per day and DHA at least 400mg per day. When it comes to anti-inflammatory purposes the value is based on the EPA dosage.

The EPA amount per day can go as high as 2500-3000mg.

Without at least reaching 800-1000mg EPA per day it is not helpful for your kidney.

This is what makes all the difference for effectiveness when it comes to omega 3 supplements.

You will find on amazon lower priced omega 3, however I would like you to read the EPA and DHA dose per pill. You will find most don’t even come close to what Kidney Shield has per pill which is EPA 400 and DHA 300.

If you look on the back label it states 325mg of EPA and 225mg of DHA per pill. To reach the recommended amount listed above you would have to take more pills ,and purchase more bottles. Since this is only 90 pills per bottle.

Compared to most properly dosed omega 3 on the market Kidney Shield is a good price for a good value. It is custom made for optimal kidney support and kidney health.

I recommend taking a few minutes to learn more about how omega 3 and how they can help support normal kidney function. You can search online, “omega 3 and kidney health.” There will be dozens of articles you can read about how beneficial they are. However, they only help when you reach that proper EPA amount.

Thank you for the questions. Kidney Shield is a high potency omega 3 optimized for kidney health. Its not just a regular omega 3 that you can purchase anywhere.

This is moleculary distilled omega 3 with a healing property called EPA at very high doses.  Unless an omega 3 is at least 300mg of EPA per pill it is really doing very little to help support normal kidney function. It can benefit other issues, but not helping support kidney health.
