Flourish: How the Love of Christ Frees Us from Self-Focus

I love how much it teaches you and the perspectives it shows. I learned a lot and look back on this book all the time. It brought me so much closer to God!

This was great for a short summer book club reading.

This is a book to read and re-read. Lydia Brownback guides the reader to understand truths of Scripture and how they apply to life. Highly recommend.

Good book for a bible study group. We read one chapter a week and then discussed.

Quick read about the growing cultural trend of self-improvement and self-reliance. A very good read for Christian women, girls and others. I will be delivering a review soon to a Ladies Bible Study group and my emphasis is on using the book to open our eyes to the trend and beware. I was hoping some reviewer might explain the sub-topic headings "Dig" and "Discern" in a few words that a group would understand. I am still looking for that.

Wonderful book for any age group. Very readable and applicable to any stage in life. Considering using Flourish for a teen girl/mom Bible study.

I have only read the book halfway through but am struggling to read it to completion. So far I’ve found the foundational teachings of the book to be both true and necessary in the Christian life but the book to be lacking in direction for practical application. I’m actually left feeling wholly incompetent of leading a Christ, rather than self, centered Christian life.While there are great points to evaluate my greatest difficulty of the book is the overarching critique and judgement of other Christian authors and speakers. Throughout the book references are made and quotes are given to discredit these authors. It begins to feel like a political ad campaign where one candidate points out all the flaws in their opponent and, for me, it is extremely offputting.There is definitely value here, if you can sift it through the criticism.

Just get it. It's amazing.
