The Doorway Opens For The Cow!
Attending a writers critique group with Gino Bardi is a hoot. Besides laughing a lot, we get the benefit of his extensive knowledge in our field – important to you, the reader, because he has shown this excellence in writing The Cow in the Doorway. Gino Bardi knows his craft (‘write what you know’ is a tenet good writers follow) and he knows his audience, and he knows how to pry laughter out of (or into) the sternest situations. The memory and the imagination of this author seemingly knows no bounds when it comes to the 1960s milieu. When you read his book, The Cow in the Doorway, and you may agree with me that you have been entertained beyond what this love story in a page-turner plot promises. Way beyond! You may want to keep this book on your shelf for three reasons: 1: so you won’t forget his name -Gino B. Bardi (use the B because there is another Gino Bardi)- when ordering his next book (not yet titled); 2: to convince your friends to read this compelling story that finds love and pathos, uncertainty and joy and subtle humor where you may least expect it, and 3: to read The Cow again yourself.

Not Really About the Movie
The book arrived on time and looked brand new! My son loves it. Very educational as well. If you are buying this book thinking that it will be a storyline on the movie "Walking with Dinosaurs", you will be in for a disappointment. This book is more about the history and evolution of dinosaurs and written in depth about the different types of these species. Each page is filled with colorful photos of dinosaurs and paleontologists (think Ross Geller), including pictures of Patchy, Alex and other characters in Walking with Dinosaurs, the movie. This book is good for anyone who has an interest in dinosaurs; whether they prefer to learn about these prehistoric creatures, or want it just for the pictures.

Outstanding reference for the Dinosaurs featured in the movie
This book provides and excellent informative look at the dinosaurs featured in the movie by the same title. As anyone who has seen the movie will know, they do not tell you much at all of any scientific value whatsoever in the movie, choosing instead to focus on defecation based humour in the dialogue. This book is the go to source for all the wonderful scientific information the movie lacks.

Great companion book for the movie
Great companion book for the movie. My son is featured in the book for his discovery of a group of "teenage" triceratops, which supports his theory that they traveled in peer groups.

Not worth buying
Blurry photos of dinosaurs that aren't as good as a phone snapshot. Not of interest to children at all.

Walking with Dinosaurs The 3D Movie
My Review: The Encyclopedia consists of the history of the earth and the geological time scale, the rise of the Dinosaurs, how do scientists study Dinosaurs? the Dinosaur family tree, Drifting continents, warm blooded Dinosaurs and many more.Children will have fun finding out how the earth is much older than the dinosaurs and how the scientists use a standard time scale to describe the history of the earth which they divided into a series of eons, and again into smaller eras and finally turned into smaller periods and how they were able to study rocks using a technique called radiometric dating.FTC Disclosure: I received a review copy of this book HarperCollins Publishing in exchange for a fair and honest review. I was not monetarily compensated for my opinion in any way

Excellent background for the film
This gives great background to the dinosaurs from the filmSo it should really be called a Dinopedia of the specific region and time covered by the filmIt gives great background, and I especially like the scientist profiles. We were delighted to find that the main guy was from Edinburgh, and quite a few womenHowever, my issue with it is the target audienceI thought the film was aiming for older children (9-11?) but the cartoon aspect might have turned them off. A lot of my kids friends (3-6 yrs) went to see it, loved it, but it was a bit too old for them (with written text graphics etc). This is reflected in the book. The book is wordy and covers complex concepts, but it would have been better for some of the smaller children if each section had a simpler highlights/ grpahical summary section which wold be much easier to read at bedtime. As it is, it is a book that we don't have patience to read at bedtime, but will grow into

Happy boy
Having seen the film prior to Christmas, this seemed a good Christmas present, my 6 year old loves it and it gives facts as well as relates to the film.
