Song of the Simple Truth: The Complete Poems of Julia de Burgos (Dual Language Edition:: Spanish, English) (Spanish and English Edition)

This book is in great shape besides the binding at the very beginning of it. It was delivered to me with pages that weren't fully attached to it, but it's not so much that the book will rip apart. Regardless of the condition, I got this book for my college class and am enjoying it so far! Would recommend.

Julia is naked in pain, naked in love. She's raw, savage and pure: she's nature. The best poet Puerto Rico has given birth to. Agüeros' translation is unbeatable. You won't find any other book with her complete poems, including some of the lost ones, with a great translation.

Julia de Burgos work is an important woman not only in literature, but also to the Puerto Rican/Latino culture. There are buildings, schools, and streets named after her, so I thought it was important for my sister to understand why and who she is, since it is not taught in our school system.

I Listened to the constructive criticism in English course. I had never heard of Julia De Burgos;however, when I read her bio, I gained so much respect for her as a writer/poet & also compassion towards her for her suffering from alcoholism/mental illness particularly during an era that didn't understand mental illnesses & proper treatments for such illnesses.

Highly recommended. Julia de Burgos is one of a kind. I just cannt stop loving her.
