First Sail: An Adventure Story Designed to Help New Sailors Learn the Ropes

Bought this for my 7 year old nephew. He’s just learning to sail and this is a great book for his age and above

This is a great book for early sailors.I plan to use it as the main text for my 5 year old grandson.We started by playing around an 8 foot sailing dingy by having him sit in it and just fool around with the lines, rudder etc..The next step is to read First Sail. This will also be a chance to build his reading skills as well.Next I plan to use newsprint to copy the illustrations. Hopefully we will have another child with him.Since I am dealing with a 5 year old the drawings will be connect the dots and trace the words.I will also have the help of a 12 year old girl who loves to sail with her father.In July we plan to have him in the boat by himself with Grandpa instructing with one hand on the coaming.

This book it great for helping kids learn sailing and boating safety. My son is three and loves it but it is meant for older kids

A little advanced for my 5 year old but over the next year it will all start to click.

My son loves this book. It has taught him much about sailing in a fun and entertaining way. He likes having it read to him as a bedtime story.
