Everyone Should Have in Bedroom
The flashing strobe light and alarm is great. I’m hearing impaired and it would wake me up. But I believe all bedrooms should have one of these even if you’re not hearing impaired. It’s extra insurance if a situation happens while sleeping.

Fantastic for hearing impaired
Wife got cochlear implants so basically deaf at night, this detector is a great answer to alerting her. The flashing light is almost blinding, works fantastically

Great for hearing impaired, but pricey
I wanted a detector with a strobe for some family members that are hard of hearing.Annoying part is having to have these hard wired. I did have some rewiring done and was able to have these hardwired and linked together in my house. When they do alert, the strobe light can definitely raise the stress level as it is different from the regular just beeping. But it does its job.If you are electrical savvy and want to add one to someone's house that cannot hear, you can use the connectors provided and splice it to an appropriately rated cord with a plug and plug it into the wall.Only 4 stars because of the price.

Do they work? Or Not?
I tried TWO of these with the strobe for my semi-deaf hubby. The strobe did not TEST on either one, so useless for the amount of money - plus, the instructions, or lack thereof regarding whether they are shipped ACTIVE or NOT ACTIVE are very confusing - and smoke alarms are something I don't want to guess at. So as much as I wanted the strobe option - these would not work.

One Of the Great Product at Affordable Cost.
Very easy to install and only took a few minutes to do. The flashing light is adequate enough to alert you of any danger when you are sleeping or just can’t hear. A lifesaver for the deaf and hard of hearing community.

Was defective and not loud enough
First of all, it came to me with it's life already expired so its chirping away warning me of that fact right now and I just received it in the mail Sunday, had it installed by an electrician Friday (yesterday) @1pm because it had to be hard wire installed, and later that evening @ 11pm my son stopped by and instantly said he heard something beeping. It was the alarm just installed. Today, the day after, I called the company and was told the 5 chirp sounds it's making, which she could hear over the phone, means "end for life" for the device. I had just paid an electrician to install it and now I have to pay him to remove it and replace it with the one that was there previously. They offered to send me another, a replacement, but the bigger point is, I don't hear this device chirping, and I couldn't hear it on the test run either immediately after it was installed. Also, the strobe light is feeble. I doubt its strong enough to cut through closed eye lids and the alarm sound is definitely not the right frequency for me. People who make these things don't truly understand hearing impairment. There are all different kinds and levels of impairment. This alarm does not meet my needs on so many levels. It's far too high pitched. I can get a refund I'm sure, but who's going to refund the additional cost after paying to have it installed, to have it uninstalled because it is defective? Who?I hope I can find another one. I opted for this one because it's both a smoke and carbon detector so they say. Most are only smoke detectors. This company said that all of their alarms have the same sound frequency so I can't go with them for a 2nd one. Don't know what to do. They really need to make them have a range of tones from high to low instead of one shrill tone. In that way it would cover most of the frequencies and benefit more of us.
