For instance, the General and his guards are not allowed outside the 'palace', the elephant may not cross the 'river' that separates the 2 halves of the board and the 'Cannon' can capture the enemy from any distance but only by jumping over an intervening piece...All of our Chinese Chess Sets are of a good quality, suitable for beginners and Grandmasters alike.A set of large size, hand-painted, wooden Xianqi playing pieces presented in a charming decorative box.With a diameter of 45mm, the pieces are big and chunky and a significant improvement on more common, plastic alternatives. The pieces are in natural wood colors and then feature hand-painted symbols in red and white. Please note that the odd piece may be slightly smudged and that the color can vary between sets.The storage box is particularly nice with the attractive wood grain prominently on display. Chinese writing and an illustration of a Chinese warrior are printed on the lid and the whole case has a gloss finish.
