The Scarpetta Cookbook: 175 Recipes from the Acclaimed Restaurant

I purchased this book because I really like this guy and his cooking. That being said a lot of the ingredients he uses are unavailable to me. It is an East Coast cook book relying on East Coast (New York City) ingredients. Does not have any recommended subs if an ingredient is unavailable. Sorry just not that user friendly.

What led me to buy this book is that I've eaten at Scott's restaurant Scarpetta, (btw - highly I recommend it and it's a great date night restaurant if you're trying to impress). The food there is amazing and I gained an appreciation as to why he's as meticulous as he is about pasta. The recipes in the book are amazing especially the spiced duck breast, which I have had at Scarpetta and partly why I wanted this book. The photos are wonderful and I should point out the recipes are straightforward and easy to follow. Of the things that I really like about the book is the "Which Wine," suggestions. If you're a foodie, an avid cook, kitchen ninja or just appreciate a good meal add this to your cookbook collection.

If you are cooking for your friends or trying to impress a significant other, this book is the one for you. It simplifies the measurements, the ingredients along with substitutes, and more importantly it makes it fool proof for cooking. There's plenty of pictures to go along with each recipe, and a great story behind each dish. For those of you new to wine, impress your friends by keeping tabs on the wine pairings with these great dishes. It makes each bite more satisfying when you've got a great bottle of wine to follow up with a great meal.

met and exceeded all expectations

This my first Scott Conant cook book and it is awesome! He has a really Italian flair and it is all his own style. This book is very different then most Italian cookbooks I have. He speaks to his style and where it all comes from.

The cookbook of course contains some recipes for delicious things I doubt I will ever make because of odd or hard-to-find key/main ingredients, but the large remainder of recipes are awesome. I have all of Scott's cook books and the recipes always work out really well. This book has more dessert recipes than the others, and a high percentage that are really attractive to me. The conversational parts of the book, where he explains origins, history, techniques, or motivation for doing something a certain way, are great.

Beautifully done, lots of pictures. Great explanations, well written. Recipes are suited to very experienced home cooks. Many ingredients are not easy to find. I enjoyed the recipes I've made.

Brilliant recipes

Beautifully written and the pictures are drool worthy. Can't wait to start cooking these great Italian dishes for my family.
