We got this beautiful book for our son for Christmas. It’s sweet but it also has an edge—nothing scary, moving if anything. Very great purchase and awesome bedtime book.

This is a beautifully illustrated guide to thinking differently about the animal world. Older kids will find the unusual facts about some of our fiercer or less friendly creatures interesting and engaging, while the illustrations will work for all ages. There is no plot or story per se but it takes you on a delightful journey through a portion of our natural world. Highly recommend.

The illustrations in the book are fabulous and I especially love the subtle play of color on opposing drawings. It’s educational versus a plot-driven story, and the message is important. Things (and beasts) aren’t always as they seem. It’s nice to get to know our neighbors before passing judgement based on appearance alone.

To quote my 8 year old son, Lovely Beasts is "informational, funny, and animal-ey!". I thoroughly enjoyed reading it and learned so much about how 'lovely' beasts are. The art work is calming and playful & the message timely and sensitive to the needs of our nation. Spot on Kate Gardner!

Gorgeous book. Even as an adult, I found it to be informative! A sweet and delightful way to broach the topic of first impressions, differences, diversity and inclusion with kids. Personally, I think every school library should have this book!

The illustrations add to how touching the book is and helps portray the vulnerability and softer side of the animals. There are also lots of interesting facts in the book.An extremely important book aiding the conservation of some of the worlds most vulnerable animals.
