The Matalassé' "Abigail Adams bedspread - It's like Grandma's bedspread - for-real
5 Stars for this company - Maine Heritage Weavers. They make their bedspreads the old-fashioned way. We actually exchanged the "New England Tradition bedspread for the Abigail Adams model. New England is a lighter weight. The Matalassé' "Abigail Adams bedspread - It's like Grandma's bedspread - for-real!!I called the company for their assistance on my purchase. I explained that I wanted a heavier weight. The company manager actually called me back; and took the time to explain the different styles. We are very pleased with this purchase. Just what I was hoping for!
This bedspread is just what my parents had on their bed, and which my mother always called "Chenille" although I believe it is called hobnail. Exactly what I remember seeing at home for many, many days and years. I purchased the natural color. I just washed it before putting it on the bed, and it washes and dries so easily. Not too heavy and bulky, so it is not a struggle to accomplish this task. Actually dried quickly! I have a full bed but bought the queen size because I want the fringe to touch the floor, and it does. Bates seems to be the premier name, and I can see why this is so. Made in the USA. Yes, it's costly, but I think it is worth every penny.

Awesome product. No Fake advertising. Everything as advertised.
I have a Queen Saatva mattress which sits 84"Lx60"Wx31"H from the floor. Typical queen length of 80". This was perfect fit. See pix, but ignore that I didn't have the edges lined up perfectly.Contrary to other reviews that this bedspread was too thin, and lightweight, I did not find it to be so, and you can see by the two attached photos, I use a deep red blanket, just beneath the bedspread, and is not visible due to obvious thickness of this bedspread after initial washing.Another negative comment I had read was that it shrunk after washing, which I also found not to be true. In fact the package label indicated it was already preshrunk, which I found to be true. I washed it in cold (tap) water and also dried it in the dryer at normal setting and found no shrinkage.Only challenge I had was being lazy and not checking the entire surface before washing/drying, and afterward finding a surface material snag. My bad, for not checking beforehand.

Great Look for a Traditional Bedroom
I bought this in a queen size, in the antique color, which fits in perfectly with a bedroom I recently updated. Its traditional look is absolutely perfect in this room, which has new soft yellow paint and plantation shutters. It "makes up" on the bed easily; being slightly heavy it just seems to fall into place and fit the way it should. And it's generously sized, managing to hide some storage containers I have under the bed! Excellent quality; I recommend it.

This is a beautiful bedspread. The sizing is large enough for a pillow top bed, hangs beautifully. I purchased it for a guest room and EVERY time someone stays over they comment on the bedspread! Washes and dries very nicely as well.

This bedspread is a lovely design and perfect fringe, reason for the 3 stars
This bedspread is a lovely design and perfect fringe, reason for the 3 stars. The size was ordered for king size, what I got is mammoth and I can not make it look decent on the bed. I bought it to be new when my special guests arrived, and now I am going back to my old one. I waited too long to send it back and I do not think I could get it folded back in to its original packaging.

So pretty...til the animal claws come out/update 8/30/14
This is our second and it is such a beautiful and comfortable bedspread, I'll keep replacing them as the animal claws continue to create lots of snags.I tie/cut them off...but if you're fussy and have animals, this isn't the bedspread for you.I wash this every 2 weeks and color/texture holds up quite well. Last one we had for more than 7 years before it became a drop cloth. I'm sure, taken care of and without animals, this could last for decades. We like that it's super big to cover our king sized bed and the color 'antique' is perfectly neutral. Very soft beige.Nice and cozy as a blanket too.8/30/14: There MUST be an inconsistency of product they sell because when I read the lesser star reviews, they do not describe the bedspread I rec'd...TWICE!. It is a bedspread, not a comforter, so if 'thickness' is an issue, you won't get it w/this. But you WILL get the warmth. We've got 63-68 degree nights now and it's too hot for me to leave on; but, my husband keeps it on his side thru the night.

High quality and worth the price
This bedspread is clearly a high-quality, well-made bed covering. The dimensions are true and adequate, and the material is thick. I have had it for almost a year now and even with several washings, it is retaining it's fibers and remains nice. Spend the bit of extra money to purchase a bedspread that will last you for years, and help support USA workers at the same time.
