A movie based on S Hussain Zaidi's book ‘Black Friday - The True Story Of The Bombay Bomb Blasts', Black Friday (2004) is an initiative of ace director, Anurag Kashyap. It reenacts the tragedy of 1993, a serial bombing episode which left hundreds and thousands of people dead, injured and shattered. With a heart touching story-line and a team of brilliant actors like Kay Kay Menon, Pavan Malhotra and Aditya Srivastava, the movie unfolds the police investigation and its findings from the blast, in front of the audience. The movie won the Grand Jury Price at the 3rd Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles and was nominated for the prestigious Golden Leopard for Best Film.Three days before the bombing took place, a small time thug reveals details about a conspiracy made by a group of terrorists lead by Tiger Memon (Pavan Malhotra), to bomb the major locations of Bombay. The revelation is dismissed. Three days later, on 12th March, 1993, the entire city of Bombay along with the complete nation mourns over the lives of hundreds of people killed and thousands injured in the 12 blasts taking place in different parts of Bombay. The blasts are linked back to the Bombay riots of 1992-93 between Hindu and Muslims, which resulted in over 1500 corpses, immense violence and abuse and unimaginable emotional stress and property loss.DCP Rakesh Maria (Kay Kay Menon) is in charge of the case and is ready to turn the world upside down to find the culprits. The government and the forces have no lead in the case except that the bombs were made using RDX, which was illegally smuggled into the city with the help of corrupt customs officials and border police. The police find their strongest evidence in the arrest of Badshah Khan (Aditya Srivastava), one of the right-hand men for Tiger Memon. Will the police be able to extract information out of him? Will the families and relatives of those deceased find justice and peace?Black Friday (2004) was released by Eagle Home Entertainment in DVD format with a runtime of 161 minutes. This Anurag Kashyap movie has been rated A and is available in Hindi with English subtitles.

Top notch quality!
Black Friday is undoubtedly one of the best films of all time, and the DVD surprisingly does justice to that. It's even better than the poor quality version available as of now on Netflix. The image quality is pretty sharp and the sound feels stunning in 5.1 surround sound. However, at the end, the beep sound goes off and returns in bits and pieces, which I initially thought was an authoring error, but can't really be sure of since the siren sound playing with it came out perfectly. Anyways, this DVD is worth buying. I brought it to add to my collection and I'm totally satisfied with the product. Also thanks to the seller Radio & Gramophone House for providing this in a near-perfect condition.
