It's really light-weight. Flies won't get into them but you'll be taking a risk from the wind or animals if you use it outdoors. As far as quality and function goes, this item should be valued at Dollar Store pricing.UPDATE: been using it regularly for 2 years now, still holding well, who knew?

I live in the tropics, and fruit flies seem to spontaneously appear and reproduce the second you bring fruit into the house. It's okay, has kept the fruit flies out but it just seems kinda flimsy and I don't know how well it would work at a BBQ if there was any wind. Good price point.

We live in fly heaven, so any outdoor eating is done with one hand while the other waves the flies away. This product is perfect for covering up the serving dishes and really irritates the flies. They're lightweight and collapsible so they store easily, all plastic and easy to clean if you get a little food on them. These are large so they'll cover just about any size serving dish.

Maybe a little flimsy, just be careful with them. Worked well to keep flies off food on a non windy day.

I got these to cover food bowls at a wedding BBQ reception. They were great - no bugs bothering the food! Wish I had gotten these sooner for camping.

I gave this cover as a gift to my daughter to use by her new pool. I had read some of the reviews for this and other mesh food tents, so understood the purpose of the ruffle around the bottom. I think the ruffle is crucial in keeping pests off the food. I highly recommend this item!
