Burning Man

I have loved and enjoyed every role Matthew Goode has taken on be it historical, vampire, comedy/love, etc. He just slides right into every role with fantastic believability. Very good on the eyes as well.At first I found this a little confusing going back and forth but once you realized that was the format it was fantastic. SPOILER ALERT.... His grief early on was so difficult to express and he had a lot of denial, using sex to escape but it never helped him do so. You just felt his pain. The love and tenderness between he and his wife prior to the illness and during it was palpable, the reality of the frustration they both felt and the release of anger by both towards her suffering was just spot on. You knew they got pissed at it /each other but you knew they deeply loved. It was very real and just perfection. He spirals down after her death and even puts the house up for sale spiraling further. When he finally hits bottom and faces his grief he does so by going home with his son, and not selling their home. He faces their memories, and Finally breaks down crying coming together with his son holding hands. He was by no means done with hurting but it was a massive release of emotion and beginning of healing. Matthew Goode...bravo....I cried deeply, I laughed and you are an amazing actor.

This strange and compelling movie rings true. Matthew Goode is astonishing.

I watched this movie for one reason and one reason only -- Matthew Goode. He is such a talented young actor that I have made it a mission to watch every one of his recent films. I must admit that it was a bit of a slog watching "Burning Man" and yet I'm glad that I persevered to the end. The frenetic editing took some getting used to but in the end it came together. Goode's portrayal of this tormented man is quite remarkable and should have received a great deal more recognition. I may take the leap and re-watch it for that reason alone. Don't watch this film if you're into the cookie cutter mold. However, if you are up for a challenge, give it a go. Goode will not disappoint you.

Some of the original review is incorrect, Karen is not his wife but his sister-in-law. He is not unfaithful to his wife but does attempt to deal with his grief by indiscriminate sex with several women, one who was acquainted with he and his wife. He is unable to attain relief in his various sexual encounters, including one with a therapist. The symbolism of fire was finally possibly linked to his wife's cremation. A very interesting acting role for Goode, very much departure from his many historical characters. I liked this portrayal and found myself liking his character. I would pay to see this again and plan on telling other people about it.

Seeing a love one dying of cancer changes everything and alters one's life. It is hard to come back and live. The main character, Tom is not perfect, but he is a good father, and was a good and loving husband. The love they had was stolen from them when the wife was dying of cancer. The pain after, the escape from pain, destruction, anger, love for the boy, and all that comes when we cannot cope with emotion. Matthew Goode as usual is perfect. His portrayal is characters is incredible. Very good movie, but a tough one to watch since it is about love and pain and loss.

I like Matthew Goode. Would have preferred a better description upfront warning about the nudity and cursing. I hoped it would improve, but it didn't and I turned it off. Was very disappointed he made the movie and I rented it.

You might have to see this movie twice, to make sure you didn't miss a thing. For me, Matthew Goode is as goode as it gets. And yes, that's not a typo. Check out his other movies and I know you won't be disappointed. You will be seeing more of him in the future. I think so much of his acting ability, I guess I should take on being President of his Fan Club. "Imitation Game," "A Single Man," and "Leap Year" are three of my faves. He is so different in every role he plays. Oh, and don't forget him in the last season of Downton Abbey.

Depressing. Storyline starts at end of story and then reflects without the reflection being clear to the viewer.Wrong titlefor the story.

Er ist ein außergewöhnlich talentierter und wandlungsfähiger Schauspieler, was er auch in "Burning Man" mit einer tollen Performance wieder unter Beweis stellen kann.Der Film handelt von Liebe, Verlust, Wut und Trauer, an der der Hauptcharakter "Tom" zu zerbrechen droht. Seine Welt scheint in gewisser Weise explodiert zu sein, was in der unchronologischen Erzählweise widergespiegelt wird. Es beginnt mit diversen Schnipseln seiner Geschichte, mal Gegenwart, mal Vergangenheit, und man weiß zunächst nicht, wie man diesen Menschen einschätzen soll. Doch nach und nach setzt sich alles wie ein großes Puzzle zusammen, und entfaltet eine herzzerreißende Geschichte.Sicher kein Film, den man mal eben nebenbei anschaut, hier muss man sich schon konzentrieren, wird dafür aber reichlich belohnt. Ein Film, der nachhallt, und den man sicher noch öfter anschauen kann.Schade, dass er nur als US-Import erhältlich ist, aber offenbar ist er wohl nie in Europa in den Verleih gekommen. Wer die technischen Möglichkeiten hat DVDs mit Regionalcode 1 abzuspielen, sollte hier unbedingt zugreifen. Die DVD beinhaltet übrigens auch einen englischen Untertitel und Interviews mit den Darstellern, dem Regisseur und Produzenten.

I'm a huge fan of Matthew Goode. It 's pleasing to watch an actor who is versatile. I enjoyed " Burning Man" because of the depth of the character and that it was well played by him. I was exhausted at the end of the movie because I had superficily felt the pain that the man was experiencing. Matthew is very good at his craft and I hope to see more of his exceptional work.

Love Matthew Goode so of course loved this. Well acted and though tricky to follow the fractured narrative came to an emotional but satisfying conclusion. Would recommend if you are a Goode fan.

Ich habe diesen schon älteren Film wegen Matthew Goode gekauft, den ich für einen phantastischen Schauspieler halte. Im Endeffekt stellte ich fest, dass er nicht nur aus diesem Grund absolut sehenswert ist. Wie erst aus den zahlreichen Rückblenden ersichtlich wird, wird die Hauptfigur Tom durch die Krebserkrankung und den Tod seiner Frau völlig aus der Bahn geworfen. Man muss den Film konzentriert schauen, sonst verpasst man die Zwischentöne. Gut gemacht sind auch einige heitere oder sogar lustige Momente.

Fab film. Very touching.
