36 is usually size 8, 38 is size 10, 40 is size 12 (UK). Try size 36

Q: What dress size is a 44

On the size guide it states a 41-43.5 is a ladies 16-18. I’ve checked another site and it states 44 as an 18. I’m a 16 and I bought XL, when it came, it looked tiny but I did get into it with a bit of a struggle but it does the job it’s supposed to without caused pain or discomfort.
