Magix PhotoStory on CD and DVD 10

I had to prepare a DVD video slide show of photos for a major family event. Starting with no previous experience and limited time, I was looking for a product that I could learn to use quickly and produce a credible result. Based on various online reviews I chose the Magix PhotoStory product and was very satisfied. The user interface was reasonably intuitive and I was able to complete the project with a minimum of learning curve time. My slide show was pretty basic, but because of the many built in features and their ease of use, the final result exceeded my expectations. That said, there were many powerful features of the program that I did not get to exercise in this project, but look forward to using in the future. There were a few places where I had trouble navigating the production sequence, but I was able to get the information I needed from the built in help features. I felt that it would have been useful to have an integrated photo editor. You can download one for free from Magix, but it is not integrated into the product, so you have to do all the photo editing separately and import the results into PhotoStory.

I have used Magix products in the past and loved the results. When I purchased this version I was under the impression it would work with Windows 10. Be warned, IT DOES NOT! I was making a sideshow for my son's 40th birthday, as I had done for my other kids. Everything was fine, no problems creating the sideshow and it actually turned out great until I tried to burn it to DVD. I was getting error messages telling me part of the program was missing and to contact Magix tech support. That was a joke. I emailed twice no reply then I tried calling customer support. There was no number for tech support so I tried sales department. Of course a machine answered said all reps were busy helping other customers so please hold. Less than a minute later the machine came back to say all reps were busy and call back later then it disconnected. I tried for days to get help. I was willing to do anything to remedy this problem even to buy a newer version but the ones wanted was download only and I do not have high speed internet and I needed the CD. I could have requested the Cd but for extra money. It is too bad their support is terrible because it is a good program. Good thing I bought it from Amazon because I am returning it for a refund and looking for a different program.

Magix Photostory#10 is the second version of this software I have bought. I bought #4 about 6 years ago and it was a bit quirky and temperamental. Version 10 is a dream! I've been making slideshows for 15 years, starting with PowerPoint (a Horror!). But with Magix Photostory 10 you'll be creating multimedia slideshows with the ease and skill of Steven Spielberg. Anything you want to do with your photos and sound, you can do almost intuitively. You can adjust the quality of photos with a single mouse click, insert fades and wipes, record narration on one audio track and music on another. You can fade in and fade out both pictures and sound simultaneously. And there are literally dozens of special effects you can apply to photos and sound. My wife and friends used to run and hide, or leave suddenly when I announced I had a new slide show to screen for them. Now they stay glued to their seats. I've tried other video programs, and believe me, for the price of Magix Photostory 10 you simply cannot do better.

I bought this to make a memorial slideshow for my grandpa's funeral. If you just want to get the pictures up on a dvd, it's not bad but being the perfectionist that I am, I really wanted to make something special with captions and great music to really show what a wonderful life he lived. I've used other slideshow software before so I can honestly say that this one was quite difficult to use. I'm pretty tech-savvy and I still couldn't figure out how to add captions. It was a pain to time the pictures to the music and vis-a-versa. Overall, the slideshow came out nice, but it was a lot of work and could have been a lot better. I guess I will have to look for another software for the next slideshow I'll be making.

I was disappointed in this DVD movie maker. Going with the Slideshow Maker was fairly easy, but then getting it to burn was a problem, spent a lot of time looking for advice. I never could get it to make a movie that I could view on t.v., just on my computer. I like the fact that titles can be set for the photos. I will probably use my Windows DVD Maker next time.

Love the contents of the programme, but I experience a problemkeeping my photos in order when transferring them from my files,spend a lot of time arranging photos only to have them jumbled whenincluding in slide show. regards . jayzd

I had the earlier version and really liked how easy it was to take photos and make a slideshow with music. Used it to put vacation photos to music. It works very well. The instructions are limited, but you can figure it out. Bought the newer version to go with Windows 7. Several enhancements, but bascially the same product. Good buy for the money.

It does not recognize my hard drive. Support is all the way in Germany. I read the reviews to see if it is compatible to Windows 10 -(not a good review) saying it is compatible. I looked at the minimum requirements on the box and it says Windows XP. I wasted my money on something I cannot use. Was planning to make a photo slideshow for Mothers day.
