Aquascape 98562 Heavy Duty Pond Skimmer Net with Extendable Handle

The pole is definitely heavy duty and I expect it will last for many years, but I still consider it light weight even if it is heavier than some other options out there. Who knows for certain how durable a new item is, but it does seem likely to last longer than the last net because the net is made of a durable, small woven mesh that I'm guessing will be less likely to catch on a rock. I was initially thinking about returning it because I was skeptical the more shallow net pocket would be safe to catch fish. Yesterday I caught 10-12 goldfish (3"-6") in less than 10mins with someone using my old net to make it harder for them to get away. I think it will be fine with my larger 12" fish. Completely happy with the purchase.A couple warning notes: if you have shoulder or wrist issues and you find skimming difficult I'm guessing this one will be a little harder than some others because the mesh is smaller and requires more force to get through the water quickly when chasing fish. If I had larger fish like koi, the depth of the net would still be a concern.

I have to replace every year or two because I abuse them and the net tears away from the frame. However if you just used as a top skimmer (rather than a scoop for the muck at the bottom) it would likely last a long time.

I moved into a neighborhood with an HOA with board members who are self-proclaimed pond experts who turned off the neighborhood's pond fountains in spite of an unseasonably mild winter. Pond scum/algae flourished, including in the pond across the street from me. So, I ordered this pond skimmer to get some of the unsightly, green stuff out.My biggest issue initially was the delivery of this skimmer. As an Amazon Prime member, I usually receive my products quickly; this skimmer was supposed to arrive last week. It arrived in Baltimore, MD, on 16 Feb., went to Trenton, NJ, on the 19th, and transitted back to MD, NJ, and MD - maybe it's a tracking typo, but I'm down here in southern DE waiting for it.It arrived on 21 Feb., and I immediatelyput it to work. After 1 1/2 hours, the aluminum pole bent in half; algae is very heavy. The company is shipping a replacement to me, and I'll send this one back.

This net is great. It has a telescoping handle and it's detachable as well. The fine tight knit of the weave will capture very small sizeparticles and I can see that if you use it to catch your fish it will be more gentle than a typical fishing net. I use it to drag the bottom of our flagstone lined 2500g pond and it scoops up plenty. Biggest problem with it is the weave is so tight it takes a few extra seconds for the water to drain out before you can dump your debris. the slightly bent frame aids in scooping and has a vinyl sheath around it for extra durability. I'd buy it again.

I have had two of these now, for my fish pond. The mesh is just the right size to get the algae and "muck" out of the pond. It will eventually tear is my only complaint, however I have used it for my pool also. It's not quite long enough to reach the bottom of the deep end. But I will reorder this net.

I brought this in June, but didn't need the product till the fall when the leaves come into the pond. I used this once today. And the metal snapped, after gathering 3 leaves I pulled it up and the metal around the net fnapped.. I know I can't return the product, because it's been more than 30 days, but it seems you can't just purchase the net head. The net looks great, and the handle is sturdy unfortunately the nets never last. This is the first time a product has only lasted 5 minutes.

We got this skimmer to help clean some of the pond meal off of a pond. It has worked well for what we can reach with it. The debris doesn’t stick to the net. The pole is adjustable and is sturdy for skimming light to medium weight debris. It’s worth the $.

Works well for getting occasional debris out of pond. Seems durable and telescoping handle comes in handy.

Super sturdy and well made. I have a 1000 gallon outside pond and I use it to scoop up algae that i've brushed off the walls with a broom and this net is perfect. I use to clean up floating debris in the pond also. I've bought other nets before and they break every 1-2 years. I just bought this so i don't know but it looks really sturdier made than the others. It comes from big Al's in Ottawa which is the best pet shot i've ever seen. I don't work for them or even know them but i make the 2 hour trip from Montreal just to buy stuff from them. I don't know what i would do without them so i want them to have success.

Arrived bent and broken. I salvaged the netting and installed it on my old one.Functional and light. My old one last three years with light, intermittent use.

Works well. It is just slightly wobbly at full extension but nothing that has been a problem. Easy to clean.
