Redefining Prostate Cancer: An Innovative Guide to Diagnosis and Treatment

IF your PSA indicates possible cancer...you need to read this book NOW!
Comprehensive, but easy and brief so that you can get back to your Dr. faster and with a fuller understanding of what each test means; what new tests are becoming available; and even future testing ideas that look promising. I just saw my radiologist/oncologist this afternoon, just an hour after finishing reading the book and making notes and list of questions to ask. Not all of the "look good in testing stage" tests and treatments are available in many areas. I feel that I really understand what my Dr. said today. This book (along with the Walsh book new edition- much longer with more details but not quite as up to date with new trial) should be more than enough to make you comfortable with your treatment choices. In particular I was interested in the new MRI process that can be taken before the biopsy to help zero in on possible trouble spots.

Easy to use and understand, a must-buy
I bought this book to learn more about my dad's prostate cancer diagnosis and research some of the treatment options available. I'm so pleased with my purchase--the authors have done a great job of covering everything and providing lots of information that's easy to take in. Helpful charts, tables, checklists, and diagrams are scattered throughout. Chapters range from dealing with diagnosis to going into specific treatment options, from prostate removal to ablation therapy to hormone therapy, with pros and cons discussed for all. It was a lot easier to digest than other books I bought for reference, and I'm really glad I found this resource.

The New Standard in Prostate Information
Back in 1998 when I went through prostate surgery, the Walsh book was the best resource and virtually none of the options available today were in play. This book provides a major public service by updating all of us on the incredible leaps of knowledge in the field of prostate health and in particular is a great guide for anyone wrestling with the PSA/no-PSA issue or for someone with a prostate cancer diagnosis wanting to learn about their options. The authors are well-equipped to provide a holistic "total male health" perspective, and I predict this book will become the "go-to" resource for the current generation.

Very good information, concise and actionnable
This was well researched and helped with issues that our family has faced. We wanted the latest, unbiased opinions from doctors who deal with these issues everyday and understand how to communicate in a way that makes sense.I highly recommend this book to the women who are facing a diagnosis and are looking for guidance on how to better understand and make informed decisions. I equally recommend this book to men who need to learn about their options.

This book is written by medical 'giants'. I reference their scientific work in my book "An ABC of Prostate Cancer in 2015".
As the author of "An ABC of Prostate Cancer in 2015" and a past sufferer of PCa, I found this book which is written by three medical 'giants', most informative.

What Does It All Mean?
As a concerned wife I found this book to be a very readable and informative primer for anyone beginning to navigate the myriad paths to understanding prostate cancer. It is a most useful resource for examining options from pre-diagnosis to the traditional and cutting edge treatments currently available.Highly recommended for the spouse as well as the new patient!CW

Good Primer pamphlet
Very brief and light treatment of the subject, which would be good if in a free pamphlet, but not $10+. Expected more depth, especially since Dr. Lamm was an author. Better coverage on many of the free websites like PCRI. Don't waste your money.

Four Stars
Great theory. Will the facts ever be accepted by major medical?
