My son loved this script version of the classic story!
My 7 year old son had to write a book report on a play or script so I needed to find something that would be appropriate for his age. I found this book on Amazon and hoped that he would enjoy it. He loved it! He loved the wonderful Roald Dahl story, but also how the book gives helpful tips for stage setting and costumes. He wants to put on this play himself! Customers need to realize this is a SCRIPT for a PLAY of "James and the Giant Peach". It has been ADAPTED from the original story to serve the purpose of theatre. If that fits your needs, I highly recommend this book!

Paperback and printed in black ink
This book came just in time for my son's independent reading club. The print was in actual black ink and the covers were as perfect if i were to get it straight from the bookstore. Yes, the book does come in paperback form. Perfect size for smaller hands.

An inviting way to compare literature
Reading, James and the Giant Peach, as a story first created interest in the Play Copy of the story. Envisioning the interesting characters talking, interaction and setting was enlightening and enjoyable. My grandson, Parker was introduced to literature's written connection to drama.

and it is perfect! The children are having a blast
I use this play to create several small scenes for children ages 5-7, and it is perfect! The children are having a blast, and the scenes are the perfect length for them!

Book is in perfect condition. It's just not a very good play
Book is in perfect condition. It's just not a very good play. Narrator monologues on and on for pages at a time, especially at the end of the script.

Great!
Its simplistic and has a lot of diversity in character and reading levels. It also gives stage direction ideas if needed. I have used this play twice this summer for different theatre camps.

Half-baked
As a play script for children it fails. There is a narrator role who is expected to memorize and recite several paragraphs of text throughout the play. The entire conclusion of the play is also told by the narrator (which felt like the authors giving up on writing out actual lines and stage directions) in several paragraphs while the characters are meant to simply freeze in position. The only helpful thing in this book are the suggestions for costumes and set design.

Fun to read and fun to be acting in.
Delighted with the storyline, a fantasy adventure for children and grandparents to enjoy together. Includes a section on simple to make costumes made from cardboard boxes and poster paint. Very popular with my 8 year old grandson and 11year old granddaughter.

Good but could be better
Liked that it was fantasy. It was very interesting and you didn't know what was going to happen next. It was too short though. Didn't realise it was a play

Excellent for key stage 2 drama
The children really enjoyed doing some drama work with this play. Very funny and just a bit morbid... Perfect for key stage 2. Highly recommended!
