Primos HuntingLil' Shawty Hands-Free Buck and Doe Call, Dual-Reed Design for Authentic Deer Vocalizations

As I stated in the Buck Crusher review, I am not a big "Call Connoisseur" or expert. My call knowledge will increase as I get more into things like turkey & elk hunting. As of right now, for deer hunting, I own 4 calls... 2 from Knight & Hale (Pack Rack & Death Chamber) this Primos Lil' Shawty & a Flextone Buck Crusher. The Pack Rack automatically goes with me, but out of the 3 other vocal calls, the Buck Crusher is my favorite (see Buck Crusher review for more in depth info comparing all three).For this Lil' Shawty review, I will say that I was initially skeptical of this little "toy party favor" looking contraption, but I am happy with it. Once adjusted to the sound you want, you can just clinch it between your teeth & use it without having to flip any levers or flip the call over or move anything (which involves putting the bow down). To me, it sounds exactly the same as most other calls, but the Shawty is a lot smaller and more convenient to carry in conjunction with other equipment that I carry / use.There are 2 downsides to this product. The first is having to take it apart & move the rubber band in order to get the sound you want. That takes focus off of what you are hunting & it makes switching between sounds a slow process. The other downside is that it only comes with that one little band. Murphy's Law will make sure it either snaps apart or accidentally gets lost. Other than that... I like it.

I bought this because I have an older one that is a bit different from the same company that changes from buck to doe to fawn, so I thought it would be the same. It works great on the lowest setting, which is mature buck, if you put both gloved hands over it to quiet it a bit. The other settings are all a bit too loud, and don't sound as realistic as the old call I have. I used this for the buck call and alternated with the old call on doe grunt, and I was able to call some bucks near (they called back to me), but they never came in all the way until I used Special Golden Estrus scent. The first day I used the scent, I called in a nice four point and got him easily, as he was obviously in the throes of love. But I wish I could get one like the old calls so I have a back up for doe grunts. They REALLY don't like the loud ones (I have been hunting 47 years, and the loud calls just don't cut it).

This call seemed to work great. I saw deer within minutes of calling. It's small, only 4 parts (including the string lanyard), and made of quiet plastics. My only issue is the o-ring can get caught on the inside of the call when changing the tone. Being extra careful can alleviate this but that can be hard with gloves on. I should mention that losing the o-ring by pushing it off the reed seems very possible and unfortunate if up in a tree stand but I did not have that problem. Takes very little practice to get the right sound and it's great to have 5 calls in 1. Not disappointed and would give as a gift or recommend.

This call was a replacement for my older call. Do not leave the calls in a coat or pants pocket when drying out by the wood stove! My mistake. This new call is easy to adjust the pitch, but I do have a difficult time reading the notches due to age. The green print is not easy to see in the low light. Worked great with the Bucgrunter Deer Call. My husband & I now have delicious whitetail deer meet for the freezer.

This is a nice little call especially for bowhunting. It is priced nicely and produces the sounds claimed. The only issue with the call is the depth. It is designed to be compact, so your really not going to be able to reach out and talk to bucks. It also doesn't have a grunt tube so if your looking to get vocal and deep the. This might not be the one for you, however it works great within 35-50 yards and you can use it to stop bucks or call deer while pulling/holding back your bow.

THIS IS MY FIRST AND MOST LIKELY MY ONLY REVIEW THE SHAWTY WAS DELIVERED FAST THE CALL GOT HERE AT 3PM AND AT 6PM AS I WAS WALKING AROUND LOOKING FOR A PLACE FOR MY TREE STAND, I SEEN A DOE 40 YARDS AWAY AND BEFORE SHE COULD RUN I DID THE "YOUNG BUCK" CALL SHE FROZE AND WAS STARING AT ME KNOCKED AN ARROW AND THE DEER WENT DOWN I BOUGHT THIS CALL BECAUSE OF THE GOOD THINGS I HEARD ABOUT IT AND BECAUSE MY FLEXTONE DID NOTHING THE FLEXTONE ACTUALLY MADE THE DEER RUN AWAY I AM NOW A PRIMOS LOYAL CUSTOMER

I got this hoping to be able to use it for hunting season and I was definitely disappointed with the sound this puts out. The buck call is pretty decent and if used correctly may work. The rest is garbage. The doe sounds almost sound like something screaming. It’s bad. Really bad. I own a lot of calls and I would have to say this is the worse one I’ve tried. You definitely need to go with something else. I don’t like how the the adjustment is either. There is a reed with an o-ring that you must set to get the different calls. I’ll just put it this way. If you do decide to try it out just use it the way it is shipped and already set up. That’s about the only call that even sounds close to a deer.

This is a neat little call. The volume isn't great, but its a small call. I like that you can choose between several different sounds to imitate. Its not something I'd use on every hunt, but nice to have around just in case you need a little help to nudge that trophy a little closer. I have not yet taken it on a hunt, but have enjoyed teaching my daughters different deer calls with the call.

Bought for boyfriend and he loves it! Says it sounds how it should and it is easy to use. Great price as well!

Love how small and easy this call is to take on a hunt. Very impressed with how easily you can change tones for a mature buck or young.

Haven't had a chance to use it in the bush, but should work just fine.

Great deer call, Handy to carry around and makes realistic noises. Would recommend!

Doesn't sound like other good calls. But will get there attention!
