Eonon GA94 Car Radio (GA9153A)

Installed on my 2012 Jetta TDI. Works with the Fender audio system. Messing with the EQ produces static, so I recommend keeping it "flat" and selecting sound boost. Sounds good.Looks factory. Big upgrade over my stock unit. Steering wheel controls work, but cannot be remapped.I recommend buying a different GPS antenna, the stock one isn't that good. Uses a SMA connector.Wifi antenna works, I usually make my phone a hotspot, and it connects just fine.I mainly just stream Google play music, and use Waze, which both work great now.Bluetooth works, just is a little touchy. Sometimes it says the OBD2 adapter is connected in the settings, but the Torque app doesn't see it. If your streaming music through your phone with Bluetooth, the steering wheel controls will control Google play music (if installed), and not the Bluetooth music player. This is very annoying. Could be something in the settings somewhere I don't really know.I have plans to add a reverse camera, dash cam, and rear cam eventually. (should all work)The user interface is a little bland. Much like your phone with no theme. The widgets on the home screen cannot be moved or changed. Which is why this doesn't get 5 stars.

System is awesome, as of right now it's intermittently working, Eonon hasn't responded yet to my email about support and I have requested a replacement, I will update my review after a replacement.As for the system if your familiar with Android and the play store this system is awesome, You can use a Sirius XM app, Amazon Music, the options are limitless as far as the the options to entertain yourself while driving.If you have a hotspot on your phone it will take the unit to the next level better then pretty much any oem system.I have had an Android radio in a previous VW and the sound was not great.The sound quality on this unit is surprisingly excellent, apart from the Bluetooth quality.. radio and sound from apps is great. Streaming from my phone sounds pretty bad, a weird scratchy sound..The screen as of right now is working intermittently so I will update this review after a replacement**UPDATEThe seller shipped a replacement and after i installed the unit it works perfectly, no issues. The previous issues i had with the screen, and Eonon not responding to my email were both fixed. Eonon also emailed me a firmware update which I never used because I returned the old unit.The fitment is great, it looks like an OEM radio, installation is easy and quick. Boot up time only takes a couple seconds with the Auto Sleep on.everything is fast and responsive, Great unit

As a disclaimer, I am writing this review at the request of the seller in exchange for a free OBDII scanner.I’m very happy with this purchase. Does everything it advertises and more! This is by far the best radio is ever owned. Some customization required due to the unit being manufactured overseas. Unit came configured for right-hand-drive cars, so I had some trouble accessing factory settings to fix that. Nothing a Google search couldn’t solve. Unfortunately, my main complaint about the unit is that I don’t have a backup camera and it seems that the device won’t allow me to turn off the backup cam screen when the vehicle is in reverse. While it’s not a dealbreaker if you don’t have an aftermarket backup camera, it certainly gets annoying. Also, the running of the WiFi and GPS wires was a gruesome task. I spent a good two hours on this part alone. My car trim is the Jetta TDI and, while I’m unsure of the difficulty in other trims, the TDI makes it impossible to run these wires as the instruction manual specifies (which doesn’t actually tell you how to run them - it paints a poor picture, giving you only the gist of what needs to be done). Careful drilling was required. Alas, because the WiFi and GPS aren’t required for the unit to function without these features, and because I performed the install DIY rather than taking it to a car audio professional, I’ve given it 3/5 stars for “Easy to Install.”All-in-all, oh can’t go wrong with this unit. It’s the best I could find after weeks of research, and I’m certainly happy with my decision. Also bear in mind that installing stereos is never a particularly “easy” task, so while the rating is accurate, take it with a grain of salt.

This review is for the GA9153A Volkswagen model, which uses Android 8.0 and has 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage.It blends perfectly into the dash of my 2014 VW Beetle, as can be seen on the picture. Integration with the steering wheel buttons works well (volume, skip forward/backward, phone). The microphone button only mutes or unmutes (I have found no way to remap it, even with the included key mapping software).Also works well with my Fender premium sound system that came with this car.I am using it with an aftermarket rearview backup camera. The radio has the ability to superimpose static and dynamic guidelines onto the video. The latter changes when you turn the steering wheel, which is great. I just wish there was a setting to change the angle of the guidelines, as they are pointing up too steep and kind of rise into the sky (which is obviously also somewhat dependent on how high up the camera itself is pointing, but I don't have any influence on that).Two issues (hence only four stars overall):I) There's a low amount of static background noise mixed into all audio output, no matter the source. This static background noise never gets louder with higher volume, it stays the same low-volume noise in the background, so I generally don't hear it, unless the engine is turned off.II) Bluetooth phone calls in conjunction with my Pixel 3 Android phone are not of high fidelity. Not sure if this is an issue with this radio or a more general issue. Music through Bluetooth from the same phone sounds good, however.I hope this review helps other VW or specifically Beetle users. For some reason, the Beetle isn't mentioned in the compatibility list, but rest assured it works well with that car.
