Great for those seeking to improve their high range!!
I’ve been playing the trombone for 6 years now, and purchased this mouthpiece as an experiment in trying different mouthpiece designs. I play on a Conn 88HO, and have used the Conn 5G since purchasing this instrument 2 years ago.I have been very pleased with this mouthpiece. I feel that my notes “slot in” so much better than they have on the 5G. I have also found an increase in my high range, as well as good clarity in those notes. The downside to these noted improvements is that my low range does not seem to have the same full, rich sound that I enjoyed on the 5G. I’m working to improve that, but this mouthpiece seems to limit that. Finally, I would like to note that this mouthpiece has helped me as I’ve been working to stop a soft palatal air leak I’ve been experiencing for the past 4 years. I do not understand why, but I feel that it’s easier to keep my palate closed while using this mouthpiece. To anyone looking for a mouthpiece that will accelerate your progress towards high range expansion on a large-bore trombone, I would highly recommend this mouthpiece!! If you play primarily in/are working on improving your low range, I would recommend looking into other products. This mouthpiece arrived as pictured, without any dents or scratches. I am VERY pleased!!

Great Mouth Piece for higher parts (1st and 2nd)
I am a semi-professional trombone player who plays in orchestra and concert band. I also have play in a big band for 10 years. It did take a while to get use to the narrow rim, but not to long. Over all the high range is easy to play and flexibility is great. I play principle in orchestra and usually play on a 5G, but moving to the 4CL was easy. Low notes also come out easy, but notes below F are harder to focus. Articulation was also crisp and clear. After playing this mouth piece for 2 months I would recommend using the 4CL for 1st and 2nd parts. You could also use it for solos, but the low register would need to be practiced for focus and sound quality for those pieces with an extended range.

Responsive and comfortable
Bought the 4 CL and it is working excellently for my particular needs as a player. The rim is sharp, yet surprisingly comfortable in comparison to other mouthpieces I have used. Very responsive for all ranges, and just the right amount of brightness in the tone. Really it just comes down to a player's preference of a sharp or flat rim. Some like it, some don't. But the product is by all means of high quality.

Mouthpiece wiggles
I bought this mouthpiece and it plays great except for the fact it wiggles in my horn

Best of both worlds
I have both large bore and small bore trombones and found that by using a large shank 4CL on the Edwards trombone and a small shank 4CL on my Martin, I can switch playing on either comfortably. Both were purchased from Amazon, com.
