Great Handle, no complaints
Excellent handle for the VDE set, and its bigger so better grip. The ratchet mechanism is decent and position centre is locked. definitely recommend

So Right it Seems Left
The Wera 816 RA has been my go to ratchet for those general mechanical jobs for a number of years now and I wouldn’t be without it. I’m electrically biased, so when I heard there was a VDE version it was an easy decision for me. The 837 RA has a slightly wider handle than the 816 RA and is notably chunkier than the standard VDE handles but I like this and it feels really solid and comfortable in your hand. It takes all the standard Wera VDE drivers that are used with the regular handle and it is great for undoing those tight terminal screws that normally need a bit more torque. The ratchet function is smooth but I did find it requires two hands to turn the switch properly. My only real issue is with the switch rotation or, more accurately, the switch rotation is actually fine! I’ll explain, at an early age, I was taught Lefty Loosey, Righty Tighty but I had to unlearn this quickly when I bought the 816 RA. If you look closely at the picture, with the handle is in your hand you turn the switch to the left(R) to tighten and turn it right(L) to loosen. This has taken me a while to get used to and I just assumed that’s how they do it Germany. But with the 837 RA the switch rotation is in line with the direction of rotation i.e. you rotate it to the left to loosen a screw and turn it to the right to tighten it. I’ve got to knock a point off for the inevitable confusion this will cause me when changing between the two screwdrivers and of course, the price, but its a great to have a VDE option and it’s a great edition to my tool bag. Well done Wera.

its a game changer
finger tip control for catching the threads on electrical terminals and ratchet action for tightening, one handed use, use it on every electrical job i do, oh yeah its a normal screwdriver too, when you want.
