Once You Get the Hang Of It, It Works Great
The low price point on this microscope gets it 5 stars -- it works very well for its price, but being so inexpensive there are some rough areas so a user should expect that.I was frustrated with this when I bought it -- the manual does not explain all aspects of operation, I could not get good images, etc. So I bought another larger similar model, 7" screen, metal frame, for three times as much. This was also a little clunky, but less so, also with a manual that did not quite explain operation completely, but I was quickly able to figure out to tweak it to get awesome images.Having gone through that exercise I thought that now that I know how to operate a slightly better unit, I bet I can use those skills and get fine performance out of this little plastic frame unit. And I was right! I can now say that it takes a little care tweaking the knob to get perfect focus, and that using digital magnification with optical together can get it to focus at all magnifications. It really works very well. I still use both - this one for when I need super portability. I use it for studying meteorites and other mineral specimens.

Nice little microscope and how to use it with computer
Simple to put together and easy to use. I know some users were having a problem getting the microscope to work with their computer. I hope this helps someone. To use with a computer be sure to insert the 32GB TF card into the microscope and go to settings and format it.To use with a Mac laptop without a USB port, you need to use the USB C male to USB 3.0 female adapter. Put this into the port of the Macbook laptop and connect the included USB cord to the microscope and laptop. When this makes a proper connection a popup will display on the microscope. Select PC Camera by tapping the left arrow once to move from Memory to PC Camera on microscope and select OK. Next select your app to display the microscope screen. I tried Photo Booth but it showed a mirrored image that I couldn't correct. I downloaded the free app from the app store called "Quick Camera". After installing and opening Quick Camera be sure to select “Camera”, then “Select Source”, and then select HP Video in the app. Now you should see what is on the microscope screen on your laptop. On a Windows laptop/computer it depends on what version of windows you have. To see what version you have type winver in the search bar on your computer. I have version 11 so I downloaded and installed the "Smart Camera" from the website given in the manual, pg 6 . Other apps are given on pg 6 for different versions. Plug the included USB cord to the microscope and computer. Select HP Camera on the microscope when properly connected. (Select PC Camera by tapping the left arrow once to move from Memory to PC Camera on microscope and select OK). Open Smart Camera and select “Settings” and change the Device to HD Video. Now you should see what is on the microscope screen on your laptop. The pictures are from my iphone and it focused on the microscope in the 1st picture and focused on the laptop in the 2nd picture. The 3rd picture shows them both focused but makes the microscope look really big.

Powerful, inexpensive and totally worth it. Great for coin collectors.
Wow, awesome to use checking out coins. Mainly what I purchased it for. I’m impressed with the detail and image quality and love that you can record and take photos. It is plastic but the back slide rod is made of aluminum which is nice. I haven’t connected it to my laptop yet but the directions are easy to follow. Basically download an application and run it. So basically plug and connect. The buttons and instructions are simple. You can flip the image upside down for opposite angle. Light is powerful and batter lasts for quite a while. Standby mode is nice to save on battery as well. Buttons and nobs are easy to operate as well. Really impressed with how simple and powerful this was for inexpensive price I paid. I wish I had this when I was a kid to look at bugs and thousands of other things lol. Easy to function at any age above 6 or 7 I’d say as long as they use it responsibly.

Amazing for the price. Sub par build and software, but amazing fidelity
Very interesting product. The build quality is sub par, and the software is too, but it does it's job very well. I'm amazed at the fidelity of the camera at this price point. It's very easy to make things out, especially with the focus wheel. Would definitely recommend to anyone who needs to see things up close with fidelity for cheap

Amazing for the price. Took a while to decipher the buttons - not very intuitive. Still learning but the results are awesome. Great magnification and lighting.
