Great Razor
I been using the cartridge blades system for years. Now shifted to double edge blades. This is my first DE razor. Excellent razor- perfect weight and angle. I use it with feather blades. Excellent combination.

Dangerous to use
Using it from last 3 months but after 1 month of use I found while shaving butterfly head is opening itself, it may give a deep cut while you shave. You have to check the threads continuosly for tight that up.

Disappointing.
I have been using this one and it disappoints. I was shaving earlier with a Pearl SBF 11. I have used this with many different blades but it cannot give a close shave. Not sure if I got a defective piece.Yes its a well finished razor. But for clean shave I would go elsewhere.

Defective
There is a huge difference in blade exposure on both sides of the razor. One side has a lot (which is ok with me), but the other side has absolutely no blade exposure, so that side cannot even be used for shaving.HUGELY DISAPPOINTED!Better to avoid shopping online @ AMAZON for quality products...

Nice weight
Nice weight and easy to use with the butterfly doors. Make sure the butterfly doors are tight so it doesn't rattle while you use it other wise great.

Very satisifed new DE shaver here
I'm actually brand new to the DE shaving trend. After years of expensive cartridges, trying to make each one last as long as possible and getting a sub par shave after a couple of weeks in the process, I decided to step "up" to the good old wet/dry electric razor. This was a time consuming, not to mention arm tiring chore of running the damn thing up and down my face and in circles, then back over each spot to ensure I got all of the hair. And in the end I found myself tiring of it and dreading the chore and not completely happy with the results. So when it came time to decide if I wanted to drop an other 30 bucks on replacement blades, I started thinking of some alternative and came to find the popularity of the old school safety razor. After a little research I decided that it was worth trying out.First off, it is a bit of an investment. However, consider those words carefully. It's an investment. And over time, it's one that actually after the initial cost of materials costs almost nothing to maintain. I won't break down the cost of the replacement blades vs. cartridges vs. electric razor replacement heads. You can find those figures just about anywhere. You can also find a MUCH more expensive handle than the Parker 92R. I can't speak to the quality of those vs. this one. But I can say that I'm extremely pleased with this item. It's pretty hefty, so there's very little work that goes into the actual shave. It's even less work for someone like me who keeps a goatee and partial beard. It's definitely worth the $30 I spent on it. However, do yourself a favor and go ahead and shop around for better blades. The Shark blades that come with this were awful. They were like taking a sharpened butter knife to my face and did more pulling of the hair than actual cutting. I picked up a nice deal on some Wilkinson blades and they did the trick beautifully. It does take some time to get used to DE shaving. So if you're new to this like me, do yourself a favor and get over the embarrassment of watching Youtube videos about how to properly use a safety razor. Trust me, you won't be the only one. And give yourself some time to really get your technique down. This handle really is very comfortable and never feels like it's going to slip from my fingers. It's also heavy enough to allow me to let it do most of the work. As I said, it's taking some time to really get my technique down. But I'm sure once I do get the technique down it'll be like second nature and shaving will be a snap. It's a very solid made handle and the butterfly opening makes it extremely easy to install the blades. I'm very satisfied with this handle. I have to believe that the more expensive ones out there can't be that much of a difference. Do yourself a favor and if you're even considering getting into DE shaving, make this your first purchase. It's well worth it at $30. Just remember to get some better blades.

very nice butterfly razor
This is the first time I've used a butterfly razor in probably 40 years or more. I remember the simplicity of using my Dad's butterfly Gillette razor back then, and this one works just the same. The Parker 92R razor arrives securely packaged along with a small sample of Shark blades. The razor is attractive, has a good heft to it, and the handle is textured for a secure grip. The butterfly opening is smooth, and I had no problems with it opening on its own as long as I held the handle on the textured grip and did not try to grip it high up on the razor (I suspect those who reported problems with the razor opening while shaving were holding it too high up on the handle where you turn the handle to open the razor). As far as I can tell, the blade sits flat in my razor, and opening the razor for cleaning and/or blade replacement is extremely simple. There is nothing to unscrew - you simply twist the knob on the upper part of the handle to open the razor. I love the textured handle, which allows for a very secure grip even with wet hands. It took me a while to get used to the shaving angle and lighter pressure needed to shave with this razor. The edges of the razor are jagged (to help lift hairs, I presume), and I think that contributed to some of the cuts I experienced initially. It helps to watch some You Tube videos about shaving with a double edged razor to get a better feel for how you should do it. You definitely want to hold the razor almost perpendicular to your face and then gently lower the edge down until to achieve the proper shaving angle. You also do not want to press the razor into your face like you need to do with plastic disposable razors. Just let the weight of the razor press against your face while you shave. I found I also have to be careful not to stab the edge of the razor against my face as I shave, a bad habit I picked up using disposable razors, as it will definitely cut you. A styptic pencil is a worthwhile investment to stop bleeding from cuts and nicks until you get the hang of shaving with a double edged razor. As time went on, though, I found I was shaving smoother, faster, and with fewer nicks. After using this razor for a while I bought an Edwin Jagger De89bl Double Edge Safety Razor Chrome Plated to see if a more expensive razor would be worthwhile. I was surprised to find I preferred the Parker 92R in terms of ease of use and better grip while shaving. No doubt there are some shaving snobs who look down on anyone who uses anything other than a Merkur or Edwin Jagger razor, but there is really no reason to spend the extra money as the Parker 92R works equally well.Your shaving experience will be enhanced by using a barber brush and soap as it allows you to easily reapply shaving soap as you go along to shave from different angles on your face to get a closer shave. An alum bar (e.g. Barber Alum ) is also a worthwhile investment and will help seal nicks and cuts and make your face feel better after shaving.I recommend the Parker 92R razor to anyone interested in buying a double edged razor. Once you get the hang of it you will be rewarded with a closer shave than you've had from disposable razors at a much lower cost over time. This razor should be banned.
The fact that the ludicrously aggressive nature of this razor is not mentioned in the description is what really bothers me. I have owned and used safety razors for over 40 years, and I rarely get minor cuts, perhaps one time every 2 years. The first time I used the "92", I cut myself. The next day, now knowing the aggressive nature, I very carefully gave it my 2nd try, and upon my 3rd stroke, I cut my head for my worst shaving cut of my life. I have thrown my money away on this useless product. Shocking for me to have used such a dangerous shaver. The manufacturer shoud have at least made it clear in the description haw aggressive this razor is.
