Good cutting ability.
Good cutting ability, keeps a sharp edge time after time, used it quite a bit, not gone dull yet, would buy again.

Sharp, accurate, 1mm increments
The media could not be loaded. I use these step drills for drilling through thin sheet tin for small scale electronics projects which need holes for potentiometers, jack plugs, LEDs and the like. My previous bit does go bigger than this however only in 2mm increments and for one of my electrical components, until now, the hole has had to be very slightly too big. So, I was very happy to receive this which instantly solves that problem.I tested this on sheet tin as seen in the video. I first applied a small amount light machine oil and then drilled in to the tin which was solidly backed by a piece of old wood. The drill performed well and cut through the tin quickly and accurately. I am very impressed with it because if the cutting action isn't good then the holes get huge burrs and can also be misshapen. None of that here. The hole is round and very clean.I'm very happy with it.

Works great
This step drill bit for drillkng metal works really well. To initially start a whole in metal it drills accurately, amd then to make the hole bigger it steps up, under control very easily.Nice and sharp. It has 3 groove design, and drills from 4 to 12mm.Great value.

Does exactly what it needs to do!
I've had various step drills but none as small as this and in as small as 1mm increments, which in use needs a careful hand with the drill not to accidently go through to the next size 1mm up. But thats more down to me using a drill than the product.I've only used this on plastic and thin 1mm sheet metal and so far it's been fine.Plastic outdoor electrical boxes with their thicker cases are fine for this step drill, the depth of each diameter increment is enough to go through the casing for the wire to feed into. The drill tip is very sharp and equal ground cutting edges, the rake angle of the tip is steep so you can drill as a high feedrate without it rubbing on the back of the clearance of the drill.I like that the initial 4mm diameter is quite long to act as a decent pilot hole for using a normal drill after, and the hex shank stops any chance of it spinning in the chuck, it's a hss drill with a coating, which helps reduce wear and any binding of the material your drilling.

Sharp and Accurate Cutter
The cutter is designed for metal or PVC, which when used on both materials performed well on all steps, The tear-out on the reverse side was quite minimal, but all of these designs require some 'finishing' to tidy up the hole. Although, this drill did better than most with minimal 'tidying-up' to be done. The markings in the channel on the side are not quite as defined as the pictures on the Amazon page, but it really doesn't matter as often the hole size will be known in advanced and marked. The only downside was the rather large plastic container it was shipped in, it protected the drill bit very well but it is a large chunk of plastic destined for land-fill.

Good quality
I was pleasantly surprised with this - I've had a variety of step cutters over the years and most don't last. Probably because I bought cheap ones. This isn't cheap - you can get similar from online overseas brands, or even from Lidl, for half the price. But it's good. I've tested on wood and some thin sheet metal (old tool box!) just to give it a fair try.It comes well packaged. It has a decent hex shank with the standard quick release bit holder shape. It has a triple groove cutter - I've only had ones with two cutting edges before.I can't do a long term review yet but so far it cuts through everything like butter. Can't fault it. One of those tools which is great to have in the toolbox because expanding an existing hole - accurately - is hard to do without this unique shaped cutter! So for quality it's a clear 5 out of 5. Maybe I would knock off a star for the price - £22.97 at time of writing. But if it lasts then it's worth the extra. Time will tell...

Accurate and smooth cuts
Used this to cut holes in thin steel sheet for a computer case project and it cuts clean and true to size holes easily. I've only used it in a pillar drill as I wanted to ensure a good finish but it should be fine in a hand-held - just make sure to have a good centre-punched mark so it doesn't wander off.Quality of manufacture looks excellent and ther's no sign of it dulling after drilling 24 x 8mm holes. It was priced at a hair under £23 when I ordered it which is pretty decent value given the apparent quality.

Works well…
A great little step drill bit. Tried it on 1.5mm mild steel plate and went through with ease. Surprisingly the smooth black coating didn’t even seem to scratch. You get a handy plastic storage box too, which keeps the bit safe and sharp, rather than throwing it in your tool box. The case was a touch on the large side though, but better to have than not. A useful addition to my toolkit.

EZARZ Stufenbohrer
