Nature's Way St John's Wort really works!
I've taken numerous brands of St John's Wort through the years and have always come back to Nature's Way with the Lavender lid. (That's what I call it, because there's another Nature's Way with a green lid that is not as potent for me). It works for mild depression, over-reaction to situations, anxiety, stress and irritability. It also helps a little with insomnia, although for me not too much. For years, they have done many tests in Germany and have prescribed it as a prescription for depression.I've read that it causes sun sensitivity, however, I have not noticed any. (Although if you use a tanning bed, then I would not take it.) I have taken it for over 20 years with no side effects what so ever. It has a "balancing" effect for me. Just smoothes my stress level out a bit and keeps things more even. When I stopped taking it for awhile, there were no withdrawals or side effects. Amazon has the best deal I've found; my local health food store costs twice as much for the same bottle. If you have mild depression, anxiety, or just too much stress, try it. It's very safe and just might work for you too."This is my own personal opinion and is not meant to diagnose, cure, treat or promise anything. As always, check with your own physician before trying anything".

A Life Savor
I started taking St. John's Wort after realizing that I had seasonal depression-like symptoms. I started off taking the green lid capsules (non-standardized) and they worked fine, but I felt that their effects were inconsistent sometimes. When it came time to re-purchase I came across the standardized version and decided to give it a try. It worked a lot better and felt more consistent. St. John's Wort really helps with keeping my mood up and controlling my mood swings. The capsules don't have an awful smell and are easy to swallow. Also a plus for being vegetarian!

This is my medication. I won't live without it now.
I have been taking the standardized version of St. Johns wort for about a year now. I take it in conjunction with Lithium Rotate and occasionally 5-htp (Take as needed, but be cautious for serotonin syndrome! This does not affect everybody, but do your research and know your body!). I first ordered the green bottle, but then switched over to the standardized purple bottle after reading other reviewers mention the combination and potency was better. I definitely agree.Although, I will say during the first two months while getting acclimated with st. johns wort, at first i almost felt it made me more moody, but after repetitive use, I stabilized. Its weird, its not like a noticeable difference that you may be thinking or looking for, but it really does work. Its subtle, but an impact no less. It's like I will feel moody, but I recognize it now, as if I have a regulation valve that stops everything in my chest from erupting and allows me to be aware of it so I can control it. During the first few months, when I would take it, I would feel a sense of peace and calm, now its just a part of me. I feel normal now and I when I do feel depression coming on, it may still bring me down for a few days, but the magnitude is far less and I am still capable of functioning. Then if I go to the gym for a day, I snap right out of it.(Yes, I go to the gym now!). I just feel more adult-minded now that I'm balanced and not so moody or weighed down. I'm bad at taking things throughout the day, so I just take two of these once in the morning and thats it(in conjunction with Lithium Orotate , Gingko Biloba, and occasionally 5-htp). Thats usually all I need. Once in a while I'll take a multi-supplement or vitamin b for a pick me up.

Less Intense Side Effects for Anxiety and Depression
After about six weeks, this product works to reduce anxiety, lift mood from depression, and with less intense side effects than prescription drugs for anxiety and depression, but there is no guarantee of lack of side effect. People will differ in their responses, but I pay the price of constipation and sun damage to skin for the lifting of depression and calming of anxiety. Having Seasonal Affective Disorder with guaranteed winter depression often makes the side effects worthwhile for the symptoms are so much worse, but every herb or medication needs to be evaluated as to effects. Is the outcome worth the price in side effects. Prescriptions usually take equally as long to begin to take effect, so this product can be a good choice. For me, this product is more benign than the 6-8 prescriptions taken for the condition, so I can recommend it with the above caveat. Nature's Way is a consistently effective product for me.

Beware of bad batches!
I’ve taken this supplement for 3 years and it helps greatly with anxiety and somewhat with depression. However, my most recent bottle was a bad batch. I experienced extreme nausea and severe headaches for a week, accompanied by a rash a few hours after taking each night. I haven’t had side effects until now and can confidently say the ingredients are not consistent and bad batches are a real thing. Proceed with caution!

Tampered seal
I have been using this stuff for years and it has worked wonders. I was upset to see that after ordering via subscribe and save, my bottle came in tampered with and the product potentially damaged and unsafe to consume because of the tampering. The seal was off and the usual silica freshness packet was not inside. I wasted 18 dollars on potentially being poisoned, with no refund. It’s absurd.

Working great for my seasonal depression
I live in cloudy western PA and get increasingly bad seasonal depression each winter, until I finally saw my doctor, who put me on Zoloft. While it lifted my mood, the side effects were intolerable (fatigue, nausea, heartburn, and other well-known issues associated with SSRIs) so I warned myself off it, the depression came back, and I decided to try St John's Wort instead. After about 3 days of taking 3 tablets a day, it has noticeably elevated my mood with no unpleasant side effects. I actually feel more energetic than I did on Zoloft and than I do when "unmedicated." Note that I am using the bottle with the purple lid (standardized .3% hypericin, which is the form of SJW I understand to be most effective after reading up on it).
