Works and is cute!
The silicone sleeve extended the life of my bananas a few days. The nightlight works great. Though it is rechargeable, I just leave mine plugged in. The blue is my favorite color. It is even dimmable, which I didn't realize.

Fun little product
What a nifty little product. It claims to extend the shelf life of bananas preventing it from ripening too fast. Similar concept as wrapping a wet towel or saran wrap around the stem. This product provides a more eco-friendly solution offering a reusable silicone sleeve. The sleeve itself is pretty stretchable easily fitting up to 5 or 6 bananas. As for it slowing down the ripening process? I'm not quite sure how well its working...I still see my bananas ripening at a normal rate. The jury is still out if it actually works and I will experiment some more.As for the nightlight aspect, it works well. There's a few settings available. You could change the color the nightlight emits as well as set it so its always on, on when movement is sensed, and of course off. While its a convenient feature, I didn't find much use for the nightlight but for folks that don't have any other light in the kitchen, this would be a great addition.Would I recommend this product? Unsure. It feels more like a gag product than anything or a fun little conversation starter. Giftable item perhaps. In any case, my bananas have a hat now.

Nana Hats | Keep Bananas Fresher For Longer - had to reduce stars it ripped!
Today when I covered my two bananas the stretch part ripped. It should be strong enough not to rip. I cannot see any way that you can replace this part. I rarely buy more than two bananas and the vinyl part is about as thick as heavy-duty vinyl gloves. I reduced from 5 stars to 2 stars. This is fun! I like the hat on my bananas with the night light. The rubber cap stretched easily over my four bananas. The instructions state the smaller cap works for 1 to 3 bananas but I could get it over the top of 4 bananas. They sell separately a larger cap to fit 4 or more bananas. I only buy a few bananas at a time as more than 3 or 4 bananas in my house will go bad. I think it is working as my last two bananas are still looking great after 4 days and that is when they start to over-ripen. I try to eat them before 4 days. The night light is great and you can choose from 4 colors. It charges with a C-USB cable included. It took about 8 hours to charge and I am at 4 days and will recharge when my last banana is eaten today. As you can see in the photos you have a dimming switch, a switch to change colors, and the ON/OFF/AUTOMATIC switch. I like the AUTOMATIC switch as it comes on when it is dark in the kitchen. This little hat night light makes me happy. I will update my review if anything changes.

It really does slow down ripening
I only recently learned about Nana Hats which I think is a great idea! I eat bananas almost every day but the banks that are beautiful and somewhat teen at the beginning of the week are mushy and unappetizing by the end of the week. I think I need to order a larger size next time, but so far I have found that they really do help slow down my bananas from getting overripe.

This is about the most useful, creative gadget I've seen come along in years.
The Nana Hat is one of the coolest kitchen gadgets I have. It solves two problems simultaneously: preserving bananas and providing a night light. If the night light doesn't amuse you (while you can change the color, it would be great if it came with a random mode, changing the colors every few seconds for an awesome light show!), you can remove it and just use the cap. The cap works really well and extends the freshness of my bananas for a few more days. It works way better than the plastic wrap that sometimes comes with them from the store. The best part is that if you're careful with it, you can reuse it over and over again. It's also easy to clean. The Nana Hat works great and I'll be getting another one.

Slows Down Ripening, But Night Light Falls Short
I have been using Nana Hats to slow down the ripening of my bananas by wrapping the stems with the included silicone cap. This method helps prevent the ethylene gas emitted from the stems from ripening the fruit too quickly. I usually separate my bananas into two groups: one with the stem wrapped to eat later in the week and another group to eat soon. Keeping these groups apart is essential to prevent the ethylene gas from the unwrapped bananas from affecting the others. The silicone cap provided is an eco-friendly solution compared to using plastic wrap and is a good fit for three bananas, but it is too large for a single banana. Without a proper seal, the gas can leak out and hasten the ripening. The night light, however, is too big and bulky to sit comfortably on top of the banana stems. It tends to droop and gets in the way, making it more of a hindrance than a help.Overall, while the silicone wrap works effectively when used correctly, the inclusion of the night light seems unnecessary and poorly designed. I am deducting two stars due to the impracticality of the night light.

Made no difference, more e-waste for no reason
This has to be one of the most confounding products, it’s a combination of uselessness and e-waste that serves little purpose. Most importantly it failed to do anything to keep bananas fresher longer. Nothing. See the pictures taken with bananas from the same bunch, separated and then kept with the Nana Hat on one. There is zero difference in the appearance, taste or freshness. Then there’s the matter of the hideous nightlight which could only be useful if you had absolutely no other choice for the niche issue of needing a kitchen nightlight. The e-waste produced for this useless product is inexcusable.

No difference
The life of a banana seems unaltered by the nana hat. The first time we used it, it seemed to ripen even faster, so I wanted to try again. The next time I ditched the crocheted light cover and used just the silicone base. Stored in the same place, same way, are two bananas in the nana hat and two bananas not. They rippened exactly the same way. The nana hat did not extend the life of the bananas at all.The lighted top... well, it does charge and work okay. The battery life is reasonable and you can change the colors to suit your preference. It does work like a night light if you feel your fruit needs one.
