First of all this thing looks great. Made from quality materials. Very easy install and also easy to figure out. 9 year old grandson was very happy with the color and the ease of casting. Everything is designed with smaller hands in mind but performs perfectly. Smooth action and absolutely flawless when reeling. Very impressive casts from a 9 year old with this thing. Performance is smooth and is durable.Great brand with great price. Very happy PawPaw that gets to spend more time fishing with his grandson instead of just detangling his reel. Highly recommend.

Smooth action, works good, and an unbelievable price, lightweight, good fishing reel

This reel looks awesome paired with an ugly stick pole! It looks like it could have come as a combo kit. I can't comment on the cadet reel as for use, but it feels good and heavily constructed, but on a smaller scale for littler hands. I have a kastking Brutus paired with an ugly stick and I love it. Awesome outfit! This smaller cadet outfit is going to my daughter because of it's light weight and smaller size.**added review 6/6**I bought another cadet reel, but in blue, because I liked the last one so much. They seem to work awesome, no complaints yet!

Kast King out did themselves with this reel. Not only is this a great looking reel but the quailty of the reel is high end. No cheap parts or components and won't break the wallet. The cast distance of this reel is insane. I fish weekly and it has not failed me once. Everyone I have fished with since I bought it has asked me about and most have purchased one (you're welcome KastKing, free advertising). The only negative is a prespooled line. It seems to be a low grade line and is easy to break. Put new line on and this thing is awesome! Now, if KastKing will just make this same reel for salt water with a larger spool to hold more line and 30lb test THAT WOULD BE AWESOME and I will take 4 (I'm waiting patiently KastKing).

Really can feel the quality in this reel. I'm excited to use it. Love that it's an American company, too.

This reel fell apart after one cast. Spent 45 minutes rewinding all the line carefully with mild tension to get a good wrap. Upon second cast the reel shroud fell again and would not seal to the reel so impossible to use.

Didn’t last long! Cheap

This is a great spincast reel, is especially recommend for beginners as it doesn’t get twisted like spinning reels do. In fact, it hasn’t twisted yet. But that is being used by angler who fishes quite a bit. The drag system is very good, unlike many spincast “button push” reels. I’d say it could be used with up to 10 lb mono comfortably, it’s the best spincast reel I’ve used, and would be really good for people getting into the sport. Any freshwater spincast rod I’ve tried putting it on, it fits. However, in the eyes of an experienced angler, I will say that the heat ratio at 3.1:1 is a lot lower then almost any spinning reel. This means that for every crank, a lot less line is taken in then would be for a crank on a normal spinning reel. This isn’t a problem, just something I’ve noticed, and it works just fine just something experienced anglers might want to take note of when comparing to regular spinning reel. For quality and price, you will have a very hard time finding something better then this reel. I’d recommend it to anyone who wants a new spincast reel, to replace a cheap one or for a new rod etc.
