Amazing!
My wife's family and almost all of my coworkers speak Spanish. I've been slowly working on learning through Duolingo but it's been hard to remember everything. This gadget has been wonderful. I am able to express myself and have had many conversations with coworkers that don't know much English. Worth the cost.

Its okay
I work in a job where I sometimes have to translate English into a number of different languages for people that vary from NO ENGLISH to Some ENGLISH and needed a translator. Since I had the opportunity to give this device a try, I jumped. My thoughts are as follows: This is a very nice looking device; Its stylish, and the quality seems to be top notch. One might even describe it as truly handsome, but how does it perform? If someone is going to drop one hundred dollars on a device such as this, nice looking will only carry you so far so here are my thoughts. This translator has about 18 languages built in (meaning no network is required to use), however, if you want to translate into the other 121 languages a network connection is definity required. This connection can be your hotspot or wi-fi. This translator's OS seems to be Android and is very SLOW to boot up. At first I thought it was damaged it took so long but it DID eventually come to life; Likewise, when using the 18 built in languages it appears to be slow in loading. The GUI is defiantly NOT fancy and very plain and very Asian (if you have seen enough cheap Asian GUIs then you know what I mean). Certainly not BAD but just PLAIN. I really did not need to read over the instructions very hard as it is fairly intuitive. When translating into Spanish, I noticed it would frequently misinterpret some of my words and therefore the spanish translation would be pretty much useless. I had to try several times to get it right. Perhaps my Southern Accent, perhaps just the device. There is one button to press and hold while speaking your native language and a second button to hold down so the other person can speak their language and translate it back to yours. That is pretty neat and intuitive. The Device DOES work and work well enough for me to actually use it in an every day situation. BUT...If I have to carry a device with me to translate languages (which I might need once in a two month period) I wonder why I am carrying THIS device. I mean, If I need say Persian then I am going to need it connected to my Cell phone Hotspot because its NOT one of the 18 built in. So, I am carrying two devices now instead of one. Today I left my translator at home and sure enough, I needed to translate into Farsi (Persian) and had to use the Google translator app. I hate to say this, but Google app on my phone was more enjoyable to use. It recognized my Southern accent and never missed a word. It has the same functionality and is always connected to the network so no "hotspot to turn on. The app was up and running in mere seconds. I did not need two devices I only needed one. I liked the app better. To sum things up, I am in no way saying this is a bad device, on the contrary, its a very good device.....If you are in need of a very device specific translator AND are perhaps traveling is a foreign country where you are going to be needing to use more than sporadically. I only need to use translation on the fly every now and again and the Google App more fits my needs than this device does. Perhaps, It will fill more of a need in the future.

Perfect for students!
I didn’t even know these devices existed, but I’m glad I gave it a try! It does work very well, and has a lot of content/many languages available for offline use. In my case, I’d say I need it 99% at home for language studying, so I’ve been having a lot of fun with it.Voice recognition works well, the translation seems to be great and the two buttons interface for translation is super convenient and practical to use. Great addition to my daily study!
