My partner and I needed a pair of water shoes each for our holiday to Jamaica, and after reading around, decided on a pair of these. I bought the mens and got the womens for my partner. On reading other reviews, general advice was to size down despite the "fit" showing as true to size by majority vote. It was either that or go by the actual "length" measurements...I'm a size 8 in trainers, size 8 in "most" shoes, size 7 in some shoes, and 7 in most Skechers. In order to get a size that fit me well close enough, I had to drop down to a size 6 in the mans water shoe. I initially tried a 7 and they were like boats on me. Even the 6 is slightly too large in all dimensions, but it's the smallest mans size they had. I added a better insole with more padding and shape, and that with the toggle meant they fit pretty snug.My partner is a 7 in almost everything, and she also sized down on general advice. Hers were initially too tight, so she needed a 7, which fit her perfectly.With next day delivery and free returns, it's not too much of an issue, but is a bit of a hassle. Do yourself a favour, measure both feet, take the largest measurement, and go with whatever is closest to their measurement chart. If slap bang in the middle, size up as you can always tighten them with the toggle. Ignore the UK sizes because being made in China, Quality Control isn't always top of the agenda.

Bought more than one pair a must have for me

I ordered two sizes. A 7 and an 8 based on others reviews and my son is growing out of his 7.5 shoes. The 7s were too small and the 8s a little big but he managed. They are very good quality, surviving a river, been left in the garden for two days and still manage to look new. I bought a different pair of beach/water shoes for a previous trip last year and these are much nicer material and nicer sole.Very happy with the purchase and if he only gets to use them just this once then for the price I am happy and I will just donate if his feet grow again.

Been wearing these for a couple of weeks now and found them OK, but not brilliant. As a beach shoe they seem perfectly suited, but as a pool shoe not so good, they are a bit slippery on a tiled surface.My biggest bug bear with them is the lack of drainage holes. Once you come out of the water, the shoes are full of water and there is no way for it to get out without you removing and emptying it.Such a small point but would have resulted in them getting a higher rating.

Have worn these on two holidays now on rocky coastlines with an abundance of sea urchins and they worked very well.Thick enough soles to provide protection but light enough not to affect your swimming.A key point is the size adjustment toggle on the back of the shoe as I usually take a half size but was able to go to the size above and then adjust to a perfect fit using the toggle
