Works as advertised
I don’t have a test sample to test accuracy but it does appear to work as advertised. I like the audible clicks plus the display.

Solid geiger counter by reputable manufacturer
GQ is a reputable company that's been around since 2010 and manufacturers a number of radiation detectors. For this reason, I trust the readings on this geiger counter more than I would from less experienced manufacturers. The device is easy to understand how to operate. The readout is a little hard to read and looks like something out of the 70s or 80s. That's a little disappointing these days since clean and clear displays are pretty cheap, but if I'm concerned about radiation levels I won't really care about a display. If you have a PC, there is downloadable software you can use to share your readings on a world map. Unfortunately, this is not available for Macs or any other device.Aside from the hardware and interface design being 30-40 years outdated, this seems to be an accurate and easy to use device that will provide you the crucial information you need. I'd choose this over a more modern looking device from a less reputable manufacturer.

What nerd doesn't want a Geiger counter?
The media could not be loaded. I've been wanting a Geiger counter for some time now—probably from playing too many Fallout games—so when this showed up I had to give it a try. When it first arrived, I excitedly charged it and then went around the house, trying to see if anything would trigger it. Unfortunately—I mean, to my relief—nothing triggered it; not even the dark recesses of my basement.Fortunately, I know someone who works in the chemistry lab at the local university, so I asked if he had any test/calibration materials he could use to test it. He did one better: he put it in the x-ray machine and ran it through the paces. It worked flawlessly. That said, the only reason I'm not giving this the full five stars is that the software that you can download from the manufacturer's website only works on Windows. Other than that little quibble, I'd highly recommend this!
