Great e-ink device
This is my second Boox device having fallen in love with the note air 2 plus. But I found myself using it more and more as an e-reader and the note was just that bit too big to take with me to the pub.In steps the tab mini C - it's a perfect size to pop in my pocket, the battery lasts ages for reading (my main use) but is equally as good for taking notes. The screen is darker than the note (which is to be expected given the cour technology) however I prefer a darker screen, it feels more like I'm looking at a page of a book (which are rarely pure white). I regularly use without a back light and it's fine, but for those that prefer a lighter screen, the light is great for compensating. The tab mini c works so well for me that I have donated my note air to my wife! The only downside is like others have said, it's a bit of a fingerprint magnet (easily solved by keeping a cloth between the back of the device and the magnetic case - maybe boox should pop one in with the device in the future!)All in all, a great piece of kit.

The colour screen tech was not for me
Boox have done a great job with their latest eink tablets, providing a good selection of features to enable users to optimise how each app works with the eink screens. Unfortunately, this colour e-ink technology just isn't for me, hence the 3 star rating, nothing really Boox themselves can do to help improve this unfortunately so I ended up returning it. I'd read before I bought it that it was dimmer than the black and white versions, but I tried to convince myself it wouldn't be an issue. I previously read on a kindle paperwhite, with most of my reading either first thing in the morning or late in the evening, but wanted to be able to read magazines, news apps, possibly comics, all while escaping the eye straining dazzle of my phone and tablet OLED and LCD screens. I didn't really have a need for the pen input, so really only bought this model for the colour screen, and didn't even unwrap the pen before returning it. The screen was way too dim for my liking, I can comfortably read my Kindle without the glow light turned on, and even though the glow light's great when I'm in bed, I'd rather not use it all the time. This colour screen basically needs it on permanently, and I found it a bit glary, resulting in more eye strain than I felt comfortable with. My wife took one look at it and said 'return it' before I'd even said anything, it is really dim under our interior lights with no glow light enabled. I also found the 7" screen to small for comics, preferring to keep those on my 12" iPad.In the end I returned the Boox Tab Mini C and bought myself a Boox Page, I've been using it for the past 2 months and it's a superb B&W e-ink tablet that I'd highly recommend every time. It's so much lighter than the Mini C, the battery feels like it last forever, it's easy to hold and use single handed, and has great physical page turn/scroll buttons. My Kindle app works great, I've not used my actual Kindle device since, my Guardian news app works great, as does the Medium app, even Readly magazine app works surprisingly well on it given the smaller screen size. Overall I'd rather have the eye friendly higher dpi black and white screen over the dull looking colour screen. Hopefully one day the alternative colour tech will improve enough to enable faster refresh times and a true B&W replacement will be possible.

More than just a colour kindle
As long as you expect some ghosting you will love this. Watch some YouTube clips to find the best settings.Love the colour comics now.Plus I can listen to an audio book and read along on another app. Can't do that on a kindle. Also playing suduko.

Responsive and colourful, relatively
Feels very snappy for e-ink, and colours slightly richer than tab ultra c to my surprise, more contrast. Solid build, no creaking. Seems heavy for its size, no doubt due to large battery etc. But well balanced.Update: Battery life is more like a normal tablet than an ereader, so be aware that it's not going to last a week with general use, you can easily burn through 35% a day, though less if just reading.

Stopped working after 1 year
Worked great for around 1 year then the screen started lagging beyond use

Unsupported Android lets it down
The hardware is truly excellent. I use this way more than my Kindles (Paperwhite, Oasis and Scribe) and the colour for note taking and web browsing is great. Once the settings are dialed in for apps the ghosting isn’t an issue.Unfortunately the version of Android on this will never be updated and already doesn’t get security updates despite being a current model. This is unforgivable and means the device cannot be used for anything secure like banking and email nor can it be connected to work for note taking. With up to date Android this device would have been almost perfect but as it stands it’s basically a toy.

Nice idea but disappointing
I wanted a Kindle replacement and a more handy note taker. I'd considered the Air C but waited. The Tab Mini C is a good size and weight. Access to Google Play is really useful and many apps work well. My main issues are poor battery life. I got less than 2 days even with moderate use. And a confusing set of configuration options to apply to each apps.
