A great piece of nostalgia
🐟 I must admit that I always wanted to start a small collection of models from the sows that were dear to me when I was young, and some of these more modern versions are certainly a lot less expensive than the originals. I don’t intend to keep it out of the box, as the box art and the whole presentation of the model are part of its charm.🧜 The Stingray submarine is relatively small, about the size of my hand, but well secured in the box in a display pose, so I can look at it without it becoming dusty on a shelf somewhere. The dimensions all look reasonable given my recollection of the original, and the colours are good too, with a glossy finish. A stand is included inside the box, and all the model features are there, including the transparent EVA pods on the side, missiles, and distinctive fins and engine. There is no interior detail. The internal box art shows an underwater scene for display.🔱 The missile mechanism is a little fiddly and toy-like, and the missiles don’t sit well inside the launchers. You only get two, so there is no spare. These are fired from a button underneath. There are many other details that either represent details from the original show model, such as a representation of the skids underneath, or the pods under the wings that I had not noticed before, even having watched Stingray hundreds of times as a kid.🌿 It’s a great model, and I can only wish for a matching Aquaphibian Terror Fish from the same stable. Recommended. ✔️

Slightly Disappointed
Being a lifetime fan of Gerry Anderson, I'm almost always interested in merchandise, particularly the vehicles and die cast models.I was aware that reviews were less than glowing of this particular Corgi edition, but wanted to check it out for myself.I have to say I was definitely underwhelmed. The model is pretty small, albeit well constructed from die cast metal. The torpedo firing mechanism is frankly, pathetic..they just about manage to limp out of the silos!.Nice touch with the supplied stand and it displays reasonably well. That said, if you want a really excellent and faithful die cast of this model..save yer pennies and opt to buy the Product Enterprise edition..they're usually available to purchase second hand on ebay and marketplace..

Like the TV model
An excellent reproduction of the TV classic, wish I could have bought this in 1964 but none were available.

Spot the obvious mistake.
Corgi let's the side down by squaring off the back edges of the sting missile tubes. It's the first model in decades to do this and spoil the lines of the craft. It was done to accommodate the pretty feeble mechanism that shoots a couple of plastic missiles. If they had made the missiles a couple of millimetres longer then they could have got the hull shape right. In all other regards it's a very good model but, since it's targeted as a collector's and not a toy, then why on earth mess the shape up forva novelty feature. No doubt Corgi will reissue a better version in years to come, just as they are currently releasing Thunderbird diecasts with the correct coloured paintwork.
