Set of 12 Seriously powerful magnets with optional attachment rings
I have played with magnets since I was a kid and demonstrated magnets when I taught high school physics but these individually are the second most powerful I have ever owned or used. You can see many more powerful ones on YouTube or other places but at a certain point you don't want them in your house since they will scramble the magnetic strip on your credit cards and wreck other magnets you might have in the house including on speakers and electric motors. These come as the 12 discs together in two layers of six each and it is very difficult to slide them apart-you can't pull them apart-have to slide them, with much difficulty. The rings (marked "304") are in a separate Ziploc bag with the screws and washers also in a Ziploc bag. These are all probably 304 stainless steel. I measured the magnetic disk as 1.255 inch/3.189 cm diameter, 0.264 inch/6.7 mm thick, and the height including the ring as 1.140 inch/ 2.90 cm. The mostly round ring is 0.896 inches outside diameter, 0.5295 inch inside side to side and 0.479 inside top to bottom and the metal of the ring has circular cross-section of about 0.186 inches thickness. These individual magnetic disks are so strong that they actually will strongly attract even 304 stainless steel which is normally not much attracted to a magnet. In fact while doing the measurements of the magnet it grabbed onto the side of the stainless steel digital vernier caliper I was using and I had a hard time sliding it off. You probably also want to keep each of these magnets at least 2 feet away from your smart phone unless you want to risk the magnet inside the smart phone getting messed up.If you want to use one of these very strong disk magnets on a large metal surface you need to attach the ring to the top of the magnetic disk with the tapered head screw coming in from the bottom and going into the tapped hole of the ring through the metal washer. That way you can remove the magnet by pulling on the ring; otherwise you would pretty much have to slide the magnetic disk to the edge of the large metal surface to remove it; you probably can't get a good enough grip with your fingers on the edges of the disk to pull it straight up. Another useful trick would be to put a piece of paper/plastic/cardboard between the magnet and the surface you are attaching it to which will decrease the total force of the magnet and make it easier to remove.Although these magnets, especially with the ring installed, are too large for a child to easily swallow, I would definitely keep them away from anybody less than about 10 years old. If you want them to learn about magnets use larger and weaker magnets.I have used a strong magnet for fishing in a nearby lake to remove nails, tools, and steel-based trash. Even one out of the 12 in this pack will be plenty strong enough to grab onto and pull heavy stuff out of water or muck. But if you know something heavy and mostly steel is there and one is not enough, put three or more together with a stainless steel carabiner through their rings and see if that doesn't do the job. Instead of the ring you could also attach the magnet to threaded rod to use as a pick-up tool.In conclusion: very highly recommend. But be careful these very strong magnets don't get near something they could mess up.

Great Magnets - Very Powerful
Wow! These are powerful magnets. They come disassembled and you have to screw the eye bolt to the round magnet base. The screw, eye bolt and washer are non-magnetic stainless steel so assembly by hand is easy to do. But be advised that the screwdriver you use will become heavily magnetized in the process. Fortunately, I have a handheld demagnetizer for hand tools.I tested one of the magnets by clamping a half inch thick steel plate in my bench vise and attaching a magnet to plate (see photo). I inserted a screwdriver through the eye as a cross bar and then pulled with both hands to try to pull the magnet off. I couldn’t pull it loose. I’m am not particularly muscular, but that’s still an impressive amount of magnetic force. I also couldn’t pull the magnet loose by tipping it. I had to insert the screwdriver and use it to pry the magnet loose by tipping it. This thick plate is the ideal thing for magnet to be attracted to. The thick plate allows the lines of magnetic field to curve through the metal efficiently. In contrast, I also attached the magnet to a thinner metal surface (steel house entry door and refrigerator door) and it holds firmly but I can remove it with some effort without needing to tip it.These are great magnets if you need something powerful.

Very good value, definitely strong, well made, 100 lbs? I'm not so sure
The Verdict:RECOMMENDThe GOOD:- Good value- Well made- Small but mighty- Screws together tight without locking washerThe BAD:- No locking washersChanges to get 5-stars:- Locking mechanism so it won't come apartBottom Line:For the price, these are some strong little magnets. They can definitely pick up some serious weight for their size and are well made. If fishing with them I'd put some thread locker on the screw so it doesn't loosen on you over time.Details:These come loose in a package and require some assembly, but it is very straight forward. The machined screw is countersunk so it doesn't get in the way of the flat magnetic surface. The eyelet is very robust and looks to be the strongest part of the whole bit. I only had a 25 lb. weight to hang from this and it took a couople tries because the end surface is not perfectly flat. Can these hold more? I'm sure they can. Can they hold 100 lbs. like the picture shows? I'll say MAYBE and that is being generous. In perfect conditions I'm sure they could do 50 lbs. and not a lot more. If the surface they are connected to isn't perfectly flat so it gets a complete engagement you lose a lot of strength. Nevertheless they are a good deal and work very well. Having so many means you'll be looking for what you can use them with. I'm happy with them for the price and quality.************************************************My Rating Scale:5 STARS - Item worked better than advertised and exceeded my expectations. The item provided more value than I anticipated and is a great deal. The item seems very well made and should last for a long time. (HIGHLY recommend)4 STARS - Item worked exactly as expected if not slightly better. Item appears to be made well. I have no major complaints, it just didn't exceed my expectations (Good value, well made, met expectations, would recommend)3 STARS - Item worked as expected without any surprises, good or bad, and did what I expected it to do (met expectations; might recommend if a good value)2 STARS - Item easily wore out or didn't work as well as described, was disappointing for the price, and/or was of poor quality (might return if expensive; would not recommend).1 STAR - Item easily broke/failed, did not match description and was not useful or did not worked as described (do not buy; return if possible; would not recommend; junk/waste of money).
