Acoustic strings - Sound great!!
Obviously the choice of strings and the sound you are after is always a very personal one. But having always used Ernie Ball etc I'd never tried these Martin ones. They tuned up very easily and have held their tension very well. Overall sound is bright without being too metallic. ... sparkly even!! I live them and they definitely live up to the retro tag. Great strings 👌

Good strings
I bought one set of these and was impressed which prompted me to buy another set that never arrived. My review has no bearing on the quality of the strings which were great quality and had an amazing tone. My only thought on my next purchase that they got lost in the post. I would risk buying another set, a refund was given straight back promptly.

Wonderful, mellow sound
The feel takes a little getting used to, but the sound is pleasantly mellow and I like it. I marked it 5 for brightness which means that they are not actually that bright, but are correct for the brightness I wanted for them. I will try these on other guitars. I normally buy Martin bronze strings, but I may swap to these completely if they suit all my guitars and simply use up the bronze ones I have in the house, apart from a set just in case.

Great
I have a Martin CEO7, and Martin 0017 12 fret and a 00017 14 fret....bought a set of these to give them a try and I was so impressed I put them straight on the other 2 guitars too

These are great strings and will make your guitar sound great.
I’m not a kit guy, and I’ve played standard Martin lights for YEARS out of habit. Don’t like nanoweb nonsense. Tried these out and they made a huge difference, great tone great feel. Give it a go.

Poor strings overall. Avoid!!
Martin make arguably the best accoustic guitars out there, but strings are not their strong point. If you're lucky enough to own a Martin or Gibson accoustic, treat it to some proper strings, such as D'Addadrio Nickel Bronze or my personal favourites Ernie Ball Light Alluminium. Avoid these, as you won't come close to tapping into the potential of a good quality accoustic guitar.

Love or hate ?
Difficulty getting into these strings at first, but after some 'playing in' they somehow came into their own. Seems like you either love them or hate them.

Great old-looking strings
I love the older look, silver strings! Not really silver, but you know what I mean, great looking! And of course they sound clear and feel nice.

Son assez brillant, moins de tensions sur la touche , son brillant.
Pour guitare parlor 12 frets plus facile à jouer et vibre bien bon son!

kind of hard to believe
i know this won’t be taken well by lots a people, but i think martin sucks. so, when i got these strings, for free by the way, i knew i’d never put em on….until one day when i needed some and didn’t want to wait. so, i cursed and moaned whole time i was changing out the d’darios. i get her tuned up and i take a listen and i tell a friend, yea i don’t like em…but i was lying…i actually kind of did. so i let get a stretch, tune em up again and now i’m saying they’re not actually too bad all the while thinking damn these sound really nice. so, after playing on em for about 20 minutes i looked up at her and said: “These are the most incredible strings i’ve ever heard and i’m not too happy about it”. anyway, so i normally change mine out once every week or 2…thats about 15 to 25 hours of play for me. i’m not changing em yet cause they don’t need to be changed and they have at least 40 hours of play on em. they sound bright, clear, and distinct…and no, not like your playing a maple jumbo inside of a beer can. so i’m playing em on a solid redwood top and i thought better not put em on my spruce top or they will probably be too bright, but i was wrong again. all i’m hopin for now is martin keeps makin them. im telling ya, unless you’re one of those persons who likes that dead “piano” sound, (thats usually code for too lazy to change em or too broke to buy em), i can almost guarantee you’ll be blown away by how these things sound, and the longevity is still hard for me to believe. i’ll never buy phosphor bronze again, ever. so, its kinda hard for me to be a martin fan since every one ive owned (3) spent more time at the shop than under my fingers, but these particular strings are truly remarkable..thanks martin

Rich, Non-brittle, Warm, Inviting Sound!
If you want your acoustic Gibson or Martin to sound the way they did on thousands of hit songs in the 50s, 60s and 70s, these ARE the strings. For too many years I’ve messed around with every string on the market - until I found these. They have miraculously made my Hummingbird and D-28 sound better than they have ever sounded. Playing with these Martin Retro Monels, I hear things I’ve not heard in a long time. These strings make me want to play more and write more songs. Bronze, Phosphor Bronze, etc.., BE GONE! No longer. Monel is my new girlfriend. Recommendation: definitely try a set!
