My daughter had been begging for a matching rainbow tutu for her and her build-a-bear teddy she's had forever. I saw this and thought it was perfect!!! She loved the new "pink heart" bear to add to her collection and the tutu we made for her bear was adorable. The tutu's are a little thin on fabric but to be expected. Still very cute and a fun project to do with a kiddo.

From the images, this box looked a bit cheap, and I didn’t expect much to come of it. I was wrong. I originally took a shot, and ordered it after I saw it was the Build a Bear brand. It’s an expensive stuffed animal store that lets you make bears from from picking its skin to filling it with a heart and fluff, and dressing it. They have high quality materials, and the ability to customize them makes them that much more special. So after bypassing it a few times, I decided to take a deeper look, and after seeing the brand name- I ordered it. To my surprise- the bear is really soft, and is a decent size! The rainbow skirts can be made by simply cutting strips of fabric for your child to tie around an elastic band, simple enough. It also has a matching DIY tiara for child and bear, as well as a wand, the material of the fabric is great! Not some cheap easy to rip fabric. The only thing I disliked, was that this bear doesn’t come with the infamous heart inside the bear, and instead comes with a heart patch visible on the front chest of the bear. In a way it takes all the magic of the bear having a heart away. Regardless, my daughter easily loved it! I felt she would have enjoyed it much better knowing it had a heart like hers inside of the bear. For $24.99 the quality and ability to match the bear while expanding your child’s creativity, and learning a new crafting ability through hands on application makes every cent worth it regardless of the heart being on the inside or outside.

This kit comes with everything needed to create a matching tutu and crown set for a kid and the bear that's included in the box. The instructions are simple and clear. Some adult help is needed to help cut the tulle, but mostly, older children can do the kit independently.I like how cute the bear and crowns are and that there were four brightly-colored rolls of tulle included. I do wish the quality of the items was better, though. The crowns are fine. They shed glitter, but that's fairly standard for that type of thing. The coil used for the kids' crown is also good, but the rest is suspect.--The bear is lower quality than I expected for Build-A-Bear and nothing like similarly-sized bears we've purchased at the stores. It's threadbare in a lot of places (some pictured). The bear is also understuffed in parts, and one leg is floppier than the other.--The tulle sheds easily, leaving little fragments everywhere. The rolls that hold the tulle are oddly shredded and torn as well. I don't know how that can happen, and it doesn't affect the performance of the tulle, but it speaks to the lack of quality control and care taken with this kit.--The kid's wand is coming unglued already at the bottom, and there's something sticky in the fur heart that I can't get out.--The elastic included for the waistbands of the tulle skirts came to me frayed on the ends. Tying it stopped the fraying, but it’s still frustrating to see.Additionally, there are two things that I feel should be pointed out to those considering this kit:–The elastic is relatively short. It barely fits my nine-year-old, who wears a size 6/7 in shorts. It might be too tight or uncomfortable for kids who are older or wear a larger size.–Our tulle was extremely staticky to the point that working with it became impossible as it was sticking to everything. If you don’t have static spray on hand, I recommend getting it before starting. It helped a lot.I recognize that a lot of what you pay for with these kits is the activity rather than the product and that the Build-A-Bear at-home kits are generally not as well-made as what can be found in the store. Even with those expectations already set, I was a little disappointed by the quality of this kit. The only reason I didn't give it a lower rating is because my daughter and I had a lot of fun doing this together. 3.5 stars rounded up because half stars aren't an option, and it's better than a 3.

My daughter LOVES build a bear.. sometimes we buy these little craft kits for fun but they usually involve stuffing and sewing.. which means she eventually finds the perfect spot to rip open the bear and pull out said stuffing.. I’ve learned to close them with my own needle and thread but as a stand alone kit they weren’t our favorite. This one is different as it comes with a premade bear and you create a little tutu for bear and yourself! It’s very easy to knot the tulle over the elastic so a child can still create, I just measured and cut the tulle strips for her. They send a LOT so you do have the plenty left over. Her bear looks adorable now! And this bear is her favorite yet, she’s 5.5 and the size is perfect to carry around and snuggle.

Based on regular build a bear prices, I think this is pretty on point. You get a bear plus an activity for the low end of the build a bear product range.The bear is a cute, classic pink bear. The crown and tutu kit isn't anything super fancy, but it's fun and I think that's the value in the set. It's something to do and create, plus add in some imagination play and you've got a great afternoon (plus future afternoons of play with your tutu and crown set).It's in the right price range to get just for fun, but I also think this is so giftable. It's so cute!
