Poor quality
The marker did not make crisp lines, but bled into the surrounding area and became light in color, not black, making any writing look like a big blob. It also leaked all over the outside of marker when I left it in my pocket.

Turned out great on my pottery! I drew it on green ware and it turned out on my ceramics exactly like it looked earlier. Great product!Must have for ceramic and pottery artists!

Not so good for thin lines
My wife says: I had never heard of an underglaze pen before so I was eager to try this one especially when it said it was "designed for effortless and accurate drawing of thin and thick lines. Perfect for creating intricate patterns, labeling test tiles, or personalizing ceramic tiles with precision." I was somewhat disappointed with the width of the nib on this pen. (For comparison it is quite a bit larger than the tip of a Sharpie -even an old , worn down Sharpie.) I had hoped to use the pen for initialing my pieces but because my pieces are usually small and the line width of this pen is not I don't think it will work for that. I tried it out on the front and back of a small pendant (glazing the front with clear glaze and leaving the back unglazed) On the front of the pendant I wasn't able to get into my"intricate pattern" very well and the color -a very dark blue- was mottled under the glaze. (Hence the lost star.) The unglazed sides and back were matte -a lighter but still dark blue- and evenly colored. So I think there is going to be a learning curve. I did not have any trouble with the pen leaking as other reviewers have reported. (The pen has a pull on/off top and and also a screw-on piece holding the nib. The screw-on piece was loose at first or perhaps I loosened it when I took the cap off. At any rate I tightened it and I wonder if that loose joint might be the source of the leaking others have reported.)

Leaky
To be honest, when this arrived in a box usually reserved for a watch or bracelet, and was completely unmarked, I wasn't sure it was even legitimately a glaze pen. I had a friend in class test it for me (I didn't have anything glaze-ready at the time), and it really is legit! But it's super thin glaze and it did want to leak. I tightened the ... I don't even know what to call it ... top of the pen part? and that seemed to help. But it works like other underglazes. I think Designer Liner is less messy, but it also clogs more. It's really a toss-up.

Color bleeds out all over
Don't buy this. The pen leaks all over and the tip is too wide. I threw it out after the first use attempt.

I really wanted to love this
I bought this for pottery and it bled everywhere. I tried it on greenware and bisque and couldn’t get a fine line. It also leaked all over my desk because the pen comes apart and I guess it was loose when I opened it. Sadly I won’t be buying them again.

Excellent. Wish I'd bought all the colors.
Tried this on white porcelain and colored clay, fantastic. Came back to buy more colors and amazon doesn't know when they'll get it back in stock. Shame.
