I agree with the reviews that I read before ordering this. It works. It smells terrible!!! Be prepared. It's challenging to apply between snow and melting, but if I am able to get ahead of the return of the deer, they don't come back. I wear rubber gloves and a mask when I apply it, and that makes it better.I will be ordering more.

Once it was sprayed it seemed to have kept the deer from eating my plants.

This has kept deer from eating my hostas and just generally walking through our flower beds during this past spring and summer. Our small "urban" area of a bigger town has a fair population of extremely domesticated deer who will walk right up to a construction site (with newly born twin fawns) and sniff around flower beds under ladders. They walk across our streets with a regal air and take their sweet time, not caring if there are cars waiting for them. The only time I kept a doe and her twins from munching my neighbor's front door rose bush (prior to Bobbex) was using my water hose to blast the face of the doe, who didn't care for it and left with fawns following. For those reviewers who describe the smell as "death"... I don't get it. How do you describe the smell of death unless you're around decaying bodies of animals or humans? I grew up in a rural area and my grandfather was a cattleman and owned a butcher shop. Trips to the rendering plant were sometimes required where I was left in the truck but the smell is truly unpleasant. I'm careful not to spray Bobbex when the wind is blowing and wear gloves, but other than that, I don't need to wear anything special or live in fear that I'm going to smell like the stuff. I've also lightly sprayed other plants and trees with leaf laden limbs AND the ground so they have absolutely no desire to walk where I don't want them nor find a nice place to plop down and spend the night. It's wonderful and the smell doesn't permeate our yard either.

We have a serious deer population in the Appalachian portion of western NC. Therefore anything you plant, the deer think it is for them to sample. All the stories about deer proof plants are not true. They taste my daffodils and totally munch up my day lilies. So I wanted to plant some fruit bearing plants without the deer eating them down to nubbins. I researched the internet and landed on this product. I ordered it and waited for it to arrive before planting. Once planted I sprayed the plants. While eating supper I saw the deer coming up the hill scoping my plants out. All of a sudden they got a whiff of it and snorted and ran back down the hill a ways while they pondered what to do. They checked the area out for a few minutes and finally decided the coast was clear and cautiously made their way back up the hill. BUT they gave my plants a W I D E berth. That was a month ago and I’m proud to report they have left my plants and bushes alone with no damage at all. They normally eat things down to where there’s only leafless twigs left. So far this stuff works.
