This is a review for a set of three pairs of Panda Food bamboo walking socks.The socks come in a branded cardboard envelope. They are made from 83% bamboo viscose. Now, bamboo viscose can be environmentally friendly, but it can also be made with a lot of very harsh and environmentally-harmful chemicals. As the brand don't specifically shout about the way their bamboo viscose is made, I'm going to assume it is made in the non-environmentally-friendly way. So, probably better than socks that are going to shed harmful microfibres everywhere, but still not great.The socks appear well-made. As I received these in return for a review, I looked over them very carefully indeed. I found around one tiny flaw in the stitching of each sock but nothing major. The socks are comfortable to wear and currently odour-free. As with other bamboo socks that I've tried, they are quite cool to wear. I'd probably choose natural wool/merino socks for a long hike in cold weather, but these are great for day-to-day life and should make good summer hiking socks.The real proof is going to be in the longevity of these socks. I've previously found that bamboo socks (of other brands) don't last terribly well, getting baggy and holey fairly easily. On their website, Panda Food say that they will replace any pair of socks that gets a hole within six months as they are so confident that this won't happen. For me, I would expect a pair of socks to last at least a year at a wear-rate of once per week. I will report back once I've had these in my regular rotation for a little longer.
