Learn Shashiko
This beginners kit was awesome. I used it to learn how to properly learn Japanese needlepoint. It contained everything I needed and I now have 4 beautiful coasters that I am quite proud of!

Not as advertised
The fabric was supposed to be preprinted. No instructions came with it. If they are not going preprint this they could at least send stencils with it.

Nonsensical Instructions
Ordered this hoping for a nice introduction to sashiko needlework, ended up with a couple of supplies and the wrong instructions to a completely different project. Even the link to the video provided was wrong which had me completely baffled. So now I have a set of blank coasters and a very complicated pattern (not beginner friendly) to practice on.Definitely not worth the purchase.

I like it! Fun!
I wish the pattern was simpler cuz I’m a beginner. But I did it anyway and learned! Love it!

NOT for beginners
Marketing this kit as "for beginners" is a joke. The scissors are sharp, that's the only thing it has going for it.The included thread is embroidery thread, not sashiko thread, which makes it slightly more difficult to stop the thread from twisting. The included needles are embroidery needles. My kit had a packet full and three more taped to the back of the felt. Embroidery needles have thinner bodies and larger heads. Sashiko needles are more uniform in size, and generally stronger. The instructions are nightmarish. They tell you to divide the embroidery thread without telling you why. Then they tell you to sew the inside circle (when they clearly mean square) of the pattern. Nothing more.If you think the QR code will provide the missing instruction, wrong. It's a link to a "Basic embroidery stitch tutorial" i.e. a western embroidery method using a hoop. Think there must be sashiko videos somewhere on their channel? Wrong again. They cover everything from macramé to jewelry box making but as of writing this review there is not a single video about sashiko. The inside square is a basic sashiko running stitch so you can find instruction elsewhere but the instruction for the patterns in the center of the squares? "2. Then sew the inside pattern." That's all it says.I started with the leaf pattern which is small and involves a great deal of turns and crisscrossing lines. I finally gave up trying to do proper sashiko and just embroidered it using a hoop I had on hand.I'm highly disappointed in this kit because it is not, as advertised, beginner-friendly. Please avoid it if you are just starting your sashiko journey.

Directions missing
Wrong directions and the needle was missing. Of course I have needles but not sure what kind is right type to use

No real instructions, decent materials
I wish the kept the threader or the scissors and provided better, detailed instructions. There are all the items needed and it appears to be decent quality, but I will have to resort to Pinterest or YouTube to figure out how to finish these coasters. I was hoping for a new experience and maybe to purchase many of their kits, but I will stop with this one, sadly.
